where i come from, henelys are a standard staple for masters in douche baggery

though a slim non abercrombie henely on the right person, can look good.

I don't think I've actually seen anyone wearing one, but this scares me. Henelys annoy me to no end.

i've seen these around, i think polo made a few last year... they were everywhere in the early 90s... reminds me of Friends and Reality Bites, haha... not for me.

I dont like them when they are completely made of shirting fabric but I've seen some nice ones made of jersey with cotton shirting collar, placket and bib...

I like henleys too... but like some one else said not A&F. I'm just lucky the brand hasnt really come to Sydney.

Would I be wrong in calling that a Mandarin collar? I wore something very similar to my first communion at 7 years old.

On topic though, I saw something like that in British GQ today and they look horrid.

Mandarin collars are higher, typical of those traditional chinese silk coats that fat-ass Steven Segal wears to look more sagacious or "worldly" or whatever he's shooting for.

As mentioned above, collarless shirts were popular for some reason in the early 90s. They have an inherently antiquated, peasanty look, like they should be worn with a broad-brimmed straw hat by someone in a buggy with a beard who thinks pockets are "proud." So, if that's the look you want, by all means.

I like it, a nice old time/depression eraa/western vibe, but only in plain or with tuned down stripes. I haven´t seen many around though.

Cloak made a really nice one that was sort of a variation on a theme. The collar, or lack thereof, had a closure that was slanted kind of.

They had this one in white at the Barney's coop sale. I thought it was pretty nice as well. I like the no collar look. Whats up with the henley hate anyways :confused:

FYI - a collarless button-down is an oxymoron, as you have to have a collar to have a button-down. It refers to shirts with buttons on the collar peaks, such as this:
