'Tis all. Most brands either try too hard or bring nothing new to the table. Though I like a lot of Nikes, Adidas, etc., I'd never wear them on principle alone.

I actually have a pair of Creative Recreations...um...forget what they're called, but they have a thatch-like tongue and a MAFIA-inspired name. They're really good-looking shoes but soooooooo uncomfortable.

I dropped out of the Nike thing early on and latched onto Adidas for some reason, so:

1. Adidas, particularly runners, like Micropacers, Oregons, and Marathons, but have had Stan Smiths as a standby shoe for a long time.

2. New Balance have killed me ever since I had a gf about 3 years ago who wore these washed-out maroon 570-somethings, the suede had washed out to this perfect soft color while the nylon stayed true. Something beautiful I put up in the ranks of a nice washed-out denim.

3. I wear chucks most of the time, I like mine with the ball of the foot worn to shit so the soles lay flat on the ground and the quarters buckle a bit. I think I have like 5 or 6 pair but rely on white ones.

4. Those white Common Projects lo-tops are probably my next sneaker.

5. The German Army sneaker and the Dior, various Japanese shop brand, and Margiela variants are modern classics.

southwillard.com . Awesome shop and they have the full color range, though they're sold out of the grey high-top and blue low in 44. Odin NYC is also carrying the full range and they'll be happy to ship if you call them.

Yeah, they're expensive but awesome. Great minimalist styling without being boring, beautiful leather, really well-made and the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I have all the lows and I'm working on getting the highs next. I hated sneakers before I found Common Projects.

to be totally honest, the whole thread no sense at all. ...imo it should be more like "what other trainers do you rate, other than nike or adidas" or something along those lines.
