And the last good news & update for now, the japanese CLUTCH MAGAZINE is shipped and on its way to Vater&Sohn! We ordered various copies including the numbers 39 to 46! Can't really say when they arrive, but we cross our fingers for any day before the 24th!!

We're a bit behind our schedule but here is the RMC stuff that already has arrived! All pieces are available in store and also online. The size charts are enabled and correct!

 

The two heavyweight pieces of this years delivery is the N-1 Deck Jacket and the WWII Pea Coat. We consider both to be the best our market has to offer! 

 

 

N-1 Deck Jacket

 

 

True to the name, the deck jacket was utilized primarily on the deck of a ship. Prior to World War 2, Navy personnel wore the pea cot on board. They quickly discovered through, that the heavy weight and snug fitting pea coat they were issued was not ideal for heavy labor on board. The solution was the deck jacket, designed to serve as the replacement. All men on deck were obligated to serve, regardless of weather conditions. As the situation on deck was often precarious, the necessity for a functional jacket to serve the most intense situations arose. The jacket was required to be durable, wind/rain resistant and adequately provide warmth in cold weather. These individual characteristics were each considered and applied to all deck jackets, resulting in the simple yet functional design. An obvious sign of its durability and popularity are the countless number of U.S. Navy veterans who continue to sport their deck jackets after the war.

The Real McCoy's created the most authentic reproduction of a N-1 we have come across - this jacket is the state of the art!

WWII Pea Coat

 

 

Numerous myths surround the design functions of the pea coat, whether it is the shape of the collars to serve as a sound reflector when the collars were stood, to improve hearing. Or the symmetrical buttons on both sides of the front to allow for closure both ways to maximize wind resistance. The truth of the matter is, we will never really know the exact reasoning behind the true function and purpose of design.

Produced for well over 100 years, the pea coat has a rich history. Countless countries have imitated the design for their own military uniforms. By the midst of World War 2, the pea coat was already considered an outdated jacket in forms of functionality. Nonetheless, it continues to be praised as an essential jacket for the U.S. Navy to this day.

The Real McCoy's have created the mother of all Pea Coats. We are fanatics and as of now the pieces by Tsujimoto's craftspeople never let us down!

RMC Lot 004 Jeans

 

 

The Lot 004 is a true reproduction of a 60's era 501 with all the features at the right place. This includes no riveted back pockets, a medium rise and a slim to tapered fit! This jeans has become an icon 50 years ago, meaning that contemporary slim fitting jeans are as classic as it gets - even though few might argue against it.

This denim has an incredible fade with wear and tear and is something McCoy's are immensely proud of. Typical for 60's american denim it offers a bit more texture (a subtle slub) to its owner than its predecessors!

The Real McCoy's denim takes things a step further with sanforised cloth that they have developed to be, essentially, the best denim fabric. They have over 10,000 pairs of vintage Levi's at their disposal. Coupled with a disturbing obsession with detail, this claim is not excessive.

This denim shrinks with the first wash 4 cm in the inseam, but not in the waist. The waist will stretch back (as it's sanforized) so aim for a snug fit at first!

Joe McCoy's Sweatpants navy/grey

 

 

Made in Japan in Wakayama prefecture exclusively for McCoys, the cloth is the same 12oz cotton as it's sweater counter part and produced on vintage machines. They are designed to last for years and will age beautifully over time.

Real McCoy's Muffler

 

 

Like the Pea Coat and the Deck Jackets amongst a lot of other military surplus, the Wool Knit Muffler has been mass produced back in World War 2 and is incredible rare today. 

But unlike most other military garments at this time, the Muffler has been made in an uncommon way. To meet the huge demand of knitwear in WW2, the program „Knit your bit“ has been reintiated. This Program has originally been initiated during WW1. Civilians, in particular Red Cross volunteers, started to knit gloves as well as hats and scarves for the U.S. soldiers. Those volunteers were supported by the U.S. Military providing patterns and yarns. 

The Real McCoy's have been using original patterns to be able to reproduce this great piece of Knitwear.

For our very first delivery of Knickerbocker MfG. goods we are staying true to the heritage of yesteryear's & nowadays clothing – military supplies!

 

We are stocking modern takes on classic U.S. Navy & USMC items, such as the Service Chore Coat, a beautifully crafted Chambray Shirt, an old fashioned chino cloth trouser, and the A-3 Mechanic's Cap – also inspired by old Navy stock! Last but not least we are carrying two of their awesome bandanas, presenting an amalgam of water based handprinting & the artwork of Ben Kozinski!

 

 

Service Chore Coat

 

This modern fitting chore coat is inspired by the USMC P-41 & USN N-3 supply jacket. Both jackets were issued for service in tropical climates. Originally it features a sturdy khaki to olive herring bone twill (HBT). The guys at KMFG are using a 9 ounces sulphur dyed selvedge HBT milled in Japan. The jacket has been washed, we don't expect further shrinkage, but a bit of stretch!

 

 

Service Chambray Shirt

 

Again a modern fitting take, looking great for both labor & days off, this shirt is made of a japanese selvedge chambray with a rough and beautiful texture. Weighing at 5 ounces it's soft but sturdy enough to wear tucked in or not. The buttons are made of unbreakable urea in a navy blue, neither too dark nor too light. The shirt is one-washed, we havn't experienced any measureable shrinkage!

 

 

Officer Chino

 

1940's inspired pleated chino. KMFG worked this pattern a dozen times for a perfect trim fitting straight leg silhouette. The chino cloth weighs 9 ounces, it's non-selvedge and milled in the Carolina's. The button fly, as well as the suspender buttons are made of urea – again unbreakable ;-)

The pockets are made of sturdy, ecru HBT cloth. The Chino sits above the waist which lends to an authentic silhouette, being not necessarily too oldschool!

 

 

A-3 black HBT Mechanic's Cap

 

The KMFG mechanic cap has to be one of their favorite silhouettes. Similar in shape to that of the classic a3 military caps, KMFG brought a more classic shape for the crown and shortened the long brim commonly found with this style silhouette to suit that of the modern man. Lined with interfacing and chain stitched, this brim may be worn up or down, or pretty much any way you wish. It's made of the same black selvedge HBT that is found in our service chore coat!

 

 

Ben Kozinski Bandanas

 

Meet Ben Kocinski illustrator whiz kid from Kansas City. Ben & Knickerbocker teamed up to create a series of prints reminiscent of the nose art commonly found on combat bomber planes. In teaming up, the goal was to capture the spirit of those fighter pilots, their crew and the spirit both them as well as their artwork embodied. We hope you find the same beauty in their story as we did. The bandanas are handprinted with water based discharge print and are exclusive to Knickerbocker Mfg. Co., available only in limited quantities. Sold out in their shop already!

The latest delivery by our dear stubborn crew arrived. The all new and highly anticipated IHSH-134 & and their signature straight cut in the fantastic 17 ounces denim. This cloth is a pure piece of understatement and we look forward telling our customers how it's made. Even in our niche the use of organic cotton AND pure natural indigo is a rare thing, and while other brands freak out about it, the guys at Iron Heart are just cool about it.

 

Constantin is wearing the new shirt in a size SMALL and the 634N in a size 31. Being pretty amazed by the stuff himself :-D

With our second delivery of the CLUTCH MAGAZINE we received the latest Men's File X Clutch Collaboration. The highlight on this issue - is at least for us, though we might agree on that - the main subject of the CLUTCH #47..... DENIM. Brand new and worn-in, there is lots to geek out about!

 

 

 

 

 

We also stock some new belts, completely made by hand in Germany. Sourcing only 4.5 to 5mm thick bridle leather, tanned like the locals do it for hundreds of years in northern Germany. The hardware is also handmade & silvered in Germany. Our #supportyourlocal's wet dream. Ours as well. The belts come in two different shades of leather. One is cognac, the natural leather has been oiled by hand. The other one comes in a deep and brownish oxblood.
