Making Your Own Shoes?

Soo, lets face it, I haven't posted much on here, but i check it most every day and tend to read almost everything around here.

BUT, i haven't seen (ANYWHERE) anyone making there own shoes. I searched every other site i could think of and found nothing about people making them. There were plenty of people altering shoes (drawing on them, cutting them, whatevrer), but no scratch stuff. I found a quip of cobbler information on a Swiss site that explained a little about classic dress shoe designs from the 1950's and prior, but not a thing on everyday or modern shoes.

SO i rant because I just started making my own shows, and i think i might have figured out why no one makes there own, this shit is hard. Almost finished a pattern for the uppers tonight (A crooked one, but still, i am proud), needs a bunch of little changes and then i need to move to creating the sole. Then a bigger sewing machine and some finer materials.

So to my question...

Anyone here make there own shoes, anything like it? Please share your knowledge you brilliant people.

I considered it, but you need extremely specific (often expensive) tools to make a nice looking pair of shoes. I do my own clothes because cloth and thread are cheap and I already have a sewing machine. Going out and buying decent looking leather and such is only the first part trying to get all the tools of a traditional cobbler will really punch a hole in the budget. I think thats why most people are like me and just sorta give up.

I sounds like an awesome thing to do, please post your finished product (dont worry about how it looks, we know it takes practice).

It would be awesome if I could figure out how to make shoes, I could have heels just like I want instead of searching in vain for the perfect pair of pumps.
