All-over print tshirts?

I guess this has been the craze/trend with all the Clothing labels these last two years. I just don't understand the process.

I mean, the process i picture in my head seems like a lot of work, and messy.

And from alot of the shirts i've been getting, most are far from a perfect print job, especially around the edges.

Can someone explain the screenprinting process most people are using for these "all-over" print jobs?

Thanx peace.

on small print runs, yes, its gonna be slightly messy, but all screen printing is.

you would screen a bunch of shirts 1 sided, then go back when they are all dry and screen the other.

on commercial runs, they are 1000 times more likely to just screen large sheets of fabric before they actually cut and sew them to make the shirts.. just like making any fabric design [printed].

seems like all these brands latlely ahve been doing the first you mentioned...screening them all.

hundreds, mishka, mama, stussy, pretty much everyone is non-preprinted cut and cut and sewn.

someone was telling me theres some sort automated printpress that can print directly and solely on the tshirt, detecting where not to print.

sounds right? whats that called...thanx. (btw, not scheming anything, just wanted to know).
