I recently purchased a pair of Made in USA 501s from Ebay with a couple of oddities and I was wondering if some of you could help me id them. "501xx" on the leather tag is written in red ink. The red tab is blank except for the trademark "r"

The inner tag has the following markings:

4497c041

-care instructions-

552-06-0 38381-4

501-0000

The number behind the top button is 522. No selvedge.

i think it's just 501 from the 80's or early 90. i saw a bunch at a vintage store too. the double X reflect the heavy fabric used.

Is it actually a leather tag? Or a paper tag? I thought eighties had paper patches.

rnr, your right it is a paper tag.
