as I dreamt deleriously of deliciously dark denim...

just a thought that I'm assuming came to me while I was asleep, since I woke up thinking about it. Once the jeans I'm currently breaking in have reached the funk stage (where washing becomes almost more desirable than the eventual reward of not washing), would they benefit from being put over my ionic breeze air purifier?

I know this sounds a little odd but it fits perfectly up either leg of my jeans, and for those of you who don't know how an ionic purifier works, it shoots out ions that trap free particles in the surrounding air (often odor-causing particles. I was envisioning running it overnight in one leg, and then in the other leg the next day.

Any insights at all on this freshening technique? Anyone tried it? I know it seems unorthodox but I think it might work. If no one has a clue, I will be attempting it once my canes have reached critical funk...

that sounds mega-scientific, yo. go for it. doesn't sound too dangerous.

in a related experiment, after i washed my chuck taylors, i put them on top of my dehumidifier overnight, they were bone dry in the morning.

superfuture research and development: science in the service of streetstyle.

zimzam?

Using chain stitch, your train of jeans is fading wind.

They actually make laundry machines that work on that principle I have heard. I think someone actually posted on on here a while back. They used to work really well in a bar I used manage, by morning they took all the cigarette funk out of the air pretty well and I don't see how ions could hurt your denim. I say go for it and post your results. Stinky jeans is just not tolerable in civilized society. I sat next to a dude once in a cafeteria with dirty clothes and it will really put me off my food.

ionic air purifiers emit dangerous levels of ozone when they're constricted (i.e. in a bathroom with the door shut). i wouldn't recommened covering it up with a leg of your jeans, especially when hanging them up outside works just as well. unless you want to create smog inside your own home for, you know, kitsch value.

yeah i'd heard that...but they'd only create dangerous levels of ozone inside my pant leg...

i could even set it on my porch while it was running. I used to use it to cut back on the stench of dank herb in my dorm room, but it hasn't gottten much use recently. I figured if it can take out the smell of some sticky skunk, it may just do something to my jeans...

I would imagine that would be similar to putting denim in the sunlight...it would age the indigo pretty darn quickly...not sure though...might be a way to speed up fading in certain areas???

I'm sure one of the many denim experts on here would be able to conjecture a lot more effectively than I.
