Business talk...what is the total market value?

As far as the industry of casual clothing goes, does anyone have any rough figures as to what the annual earnings are for the WHOLE industry???

I found an article saying that Stussy does something like $34B/ year...seems kind of steep for a streetwear company to be making that much---especially without an aggressive marketing campaign...

Hahaha stussy making 34 billion a year? More like 34 million. There is no way in hell they can be making that much money off clothing that isn't even as mainstream as say abercombie. And I doubt it is possible to measure exactly how much the entire industry makes either.

High, i agree, but i think the fact that stussy is a bit more widely accepted internationally might make it possible..

im actually doing my thesis on the topic and came across this figure for 2003: $163 billion for apparel industry sales in the US alone. and that would be $334 billion along with footwear. and the figures are actually declining every year.

The only places that have ever even heard of Stussy (as it is today) are NY, LA and a few larger cities in between, as well as larger cities in Japan. Yes, people in the UK, etc. wear it, but it is not "big" by any means........

before you start claiming things that are speculation, you might want to find out whether the figures are gross sales or profit. Even Paul Fucking Frank did 20 million in sales last year. and obviously its not going to be seen as big if you are comparing stussy to ralph lauren.

I studied business/finance and work in the business/finance side of the music biz, don't know if you are referring to me, but rest assured I know the difference between sales and profits.....anyways, I would easily venture to say that Paul Frank sells ALOT more than Stussy. Seriously, that shit is ALL OVER Europe and the U.S.; they have several of their own locations, are in all Urban Outfitters, etc. so it is ridiculous to use it as an example of "a small company"..........I don't know where the fuck you guys get the idea that Stussy is anything other than a caterer to an EXTREMELY small niche market.

Um, clearly you can't read, but that is obviously not what I said. The problem with having this argument on Superfuture is that at least 50% of the kids on here love Stussy and know everything about Stussy, so it is easy for you to express how you think they are "doing big things." Are they a multimillion dollar corporation? Of course.......are they making over $10 million in sales a year? Not a chance in hell........

Ye Olde General Store in Bumfuck, Mississippi has been around for 30 years.......what the hell does longevity have to do with anything? 3 million in annual sales is enough to keep a company of that nature afloat for a LONG time..
