Fake Levis?

I am looking at a pair of 501's and need some help determining if they are fake. They are new with the tags and have a buckle back. The seller is somewhat vague about the jeans....as to whether they have selvage or not....where they are made ect. He told me he got them from a Customs auction.

Does anyone know if Levis made a cinch back Shrink-to-Fit 501 that isn't an LVC item?

Here is a picture:

Was it this thread? THis seller was called aldeeter. I emailed him and told him the items were fake, he was apologetic & said he wouldn't sell any more. Now it looks as if he has more for sale & is now saying they're new LVC or whatever. What a crook!

This is a good example of how useless eBay are - I've filled out the 'counterfeit" form loads of times & they've done absolutely nothing. When I have a bit of time I will try & do a story on this.

Edit: what riles me EVEN MORE is that you now can't email a buyer to let them know the jeans are fakes! I just tried it & ebay stopped me. I've reported the items as fakes but if it's like before they'll do absolutely nothing. If anyone else fancies reporting them, try this link

Yep...the seller is aldeeter. I'm not an expert by any means and have been trying to read the old threads in order to learn as much as possible. The more questions I asked the guy the more vague he got with finally saying something like "If you are looking for authentic, vintage Levis then these probably aren't them."

Here is the auction link:

I deal with eBay quite a bit at work. Was talking to the PR girl about a story I was writing and as an aside asked about the fake issue ... she trotted out the old 'we do everything we can to comply with the law line' with a wry smile on her face

basically eBay's business model lets people sell anything, whether moral or not - they don't care, they just want the 4% from PayPal
