Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

I’m not really sure what you mean. I got mine from hinoya if that helps. If you’re not sure share a link of both. @mlwdp I’ve only used buyye from the options you gave. I’d recommend Fromjapan as well, but it’s mainly for the whole VAT issue. -
Thanks so much really impressing!!!

Old wallet that was retired by the wallet I recently posted above. This was my first foray into quality leather goods. Handmade by William at Hudson’s Hill in Greensboro in black Chromexcel when he had a booth of goods there, this wallet has been with me for over ten years through thick and thin. I bought a leather wallet chain with it back then that has since been lost so I stuck to brass chains since then.

Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

I still think that it’s mostly limited to a few brands doing better raw denim than anywhere else - but it’s not about the quality moreso the whole package. That, and if I want something closer to a vintage “American” garment but new I think they’ll do the better - or maybe just more desirable for me versions (trousers or whatever else). I’ve had a few pretty disappointing mij things as well. For most other stuff I don’t think that way. Esp things like pullovers/sweaters. I do think that - at least here in the US - if you get some MIJ stuff from Japan they are a better value for the quality than something comparable from domestic retailer. I’ve gotten a few knits from Jackman over the past year - straight from Japan - and while not cheap they are fantastic quality esp for the Japanese price. -

Getting along in my years I decided to pamper myself for certain things. Good mattress, sheets, pillows, socks, shoes/boots. I figure I do a lot of sleeping and a lot of walking/standing. Why not have that be as nice as possible. I also like a good shower head and towels. These things all go into making each day as nice as possible. Now that I've moved to a property with several animals and outbuildings, I also buy myself good gloves. -

They tick both boxes but I guess this varies depending on body type. @ColonelAngus yes I agree. This might stem from the fact that I don’t really do a lot of manual labor other than the odd job around the house and some gardening. My job is kinda outdoorsy but not to the point that I need actual workwear and so this whole thing here is mainly about style for me. I don’t baby my clothes in any way but it really comes down to how things age beautifully (again, not speaking about durability), and it just doesn’t happen with for me with non Japanese brands. I’ve had several jeans and jackets from American or European brands but it just never hits the spot. -

I used to think this way until I actually owned several Japanese brands that were underwhelming. I think it depends on the specific garment you’re buying/wearing and how much you’re abusing that item of clothing. Some Japanese brands are worse than others but social media hype keeps them alive. I tend to give jeans a pass because those will disintegrate over time regardless. -

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

Me too, i'm a Gildan man.. only in their 'ultra cotton' though.. pfft! i'm not an animal!.. Same.. 6 months of the year i'm in full Woolpower base (i can't afford to keep the heating on at work) i cycle to work in all weathers, my feet get piss wet through, cycle gear off, wet socks off, wring the water out and onto the small oil filled radiator to dry.. the now dry socks from yesterday go on while i stand bare foot on a freezing cold concrete floor.. well, i stand on an old piece of formica so i don't get sawdust on my feet.. socks on.. many, many layers on, jeans on, denim jacket on, down vest and wool hat, it's my hands that suffer rather than my feet, handling cold metal tools. I did have one decent pair of knee high wool wellie socks in the back of the car but i gave them to a homeless dude outside Tesco during the last cold spell. -

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
AlientoyWorkmachine replied to minya's topic in superdenim
This is usually how I feel about T shirts and plenty of other things but I would pay even more for the good socks than I do because they really make my life that much better and actually play a huge role in keeping me properly warm where I live. I’ve tried to find comparable ones stateside but no luck so far. I’m in a wool hat and wool socks a full 6 months of the year or more, and it’s not even that cold where I am but I feel better for it - and this time of year I tend not to wear socks at all. The cheap ones don’t cut it usually - I’m either going good socks or no socks most of the time. Not too many items impact physical comfort as much as good socks for me. -
