Here you go... I didn't have a plan on what to wear the vest with... and after wearing it all weekend, I still don't ... my conclusion is just throw it on and wear it with whatever. I've been to the cinema in it, nearly losing a chocolate bar in one of the ten pockets, gone for kebabs in it and lounged on the sofa watching the footy in it. Multi-functional. I'll also refrain from calling it a vest... I think the 'sleeveless outing coat' is, in fact, a more appropriate description given the style, weight and voluminous fit... at least in the size I got, which is my usual Ooe size The denim and shape are still settling down so it hasn't draped yet... I can see it coming in especially useful when out and about on holidays

For those who may want some insight as to how a brand like Rick Owens ended up at Self Edge, this is a 5 year old article written by Derek Guy about it (featuring @sidneylo https://putthison.com/how-rick-owens-landed-at-self-edge/

I know you never asked for an opinion... I prefer the fit of the FC jacket... but those dangly bits would drive my ocd nuts!! Well done for rolling with them mate...

This looks like it could get lively!! I'll be out on a limb here... but I think one of the RO models is quite nice (the low-top Austin has) I know the fella who runs the allotment store which is stacked with RO stuff... and said hello to him once in there... and the RO stuff just isn't for me... it's not gothic enough 😀 ... joking aside, I definitely wouldn't go looking for it. That said, each to their own. Would I have noticed the pumps if SE hadn't advertised them? No. But let's face it many thousands of folks going back years wouldn't have originally noticed loads of nice stuff if SE hadn't set up shop and advertised it... so respect due for that imo

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
dada mafiosi replied to minya's topic in superdenim
Guys, anyone recently bought Freewheelers 601xx 1951? what is the waist measurement in size 34 or size 36? As this pair is sold "one wash" , I expect that after use the waist will stretch back to raw or near raw position, say waist is 86cm so it will become 91cm or if the waist is 88cm , it will become 93 cm, right? I am used to flat measurement method (A) but most shops using "waist measurment using circumeference" (B) I see using Flat Method the waist is 45 x 2 = 90cm , whereas using 2nd method 44 x 2 = 88, so if a shop is using 2nd method, simply I can add 2cm to reah "Flat Method A" right? A "Flat Method" B "Waist Measurment using Circumeference" -

^^ Can’t speak for the other end of things, but giving their seal of approval to these weird looking fashion sneakers (& associated weird looking overpriced fashion clothes) was the last nail in the coffin for my ability to take Self Edge seriously -

speaking for myself and only myself - no. I'm not an RO owner but I do have opinions! I've never thought of SE as my sort of place to begin with - but the stocking of RO, whenever it was I found out about it, only reinforced that notion. -

Sorry @reallypeacedoff i wasn't targeting you there .. that last question was posed to RO owners in general.. ie- does the SE seal of approval give this weird looking fashion sneaker validation in the denim world? .. i'm genuinely interested in how some brands manage to crossover.. -
Skull thread was like the APC thread: A competition on who could downsize the most.

For sure, different strokes for different folks. To be fair, I got 'em way before SE ever stocked them, but I agree: Your style needs to complement them. The dude above (who is too short for them, for starters) looks like he spent all his money on the shoes and forgot to purchase a bed. 😂 -

I like obscure sources -
I agree. The FC is out of my comfort zone, but I've been wearing it for the last few days. I enjoy the way the soft denim drapes, which makes riding the motorcycle easier. I'm also enjoying the cropped look more than I thought. The APC is pretty rigid compared to the FC, but it is overall a more "stylish" piece.

After promising to not buy another pair before the WoM contest starts, my willpower broke. Stopped by SE Austin and grabbed a pair of the exclusive wide 34 cut. These feel like a proper pair of straight legged jeans compared to the XX's. My old XX's feel like a slim-straight cut, and the rise is just a bit too low for my tastes these days. So this 34 cut is much more my speed. The Boncoura denim is still great and has one of my favorite selvedge IDs. Also the 34 cut is a few inches longer, so I can wear these uncuffed or with a small double cuff. Might give them another wash to see if there's any residual shrink. It's kinda crazy to think that I bought the XX's 7 years ago.

Back in 2008 Blue in Green and Self Edge were the two largest denim stores outside of JP, they both measure their jeans differently.. BiG with the waistband pulled flat, SE with the waistband sagging so to avoid possible variations in measurements, we would always note our method of measuring.. i have always used BiG method because i think it has less chance for variables... BiG fell out of favour quite some years ago, since they stopped stocking the brands we love around here so folks coming to forumland in recent years will understandably wonder why we choose a method from a somewhat obscure source. -

As enthusiastic and knowledgeable as the good folk here on Sufu are over their jeans, I don’t think a switch from one cotton to another directly influenced their loss of interest in Skull. I think it was more to do with Self Edge dropping Skull from its line-up, which may have been due to QC issues (which may also have included the cotton switch).
