Shrinking, post-soak/first wash

Firstly, I've searched and searched with no specific avail.

My Samurais are 14 months old and had their first wash at 12mths (40 degrees, non-bio, flat dry). Problem is they could do with about an 1" off the waist as they always seem to stretch. What's the best way of doing this? Hot wash at 60? Or tumble dry high?

anyone? I've tried the search function but it just yields random mentions of tumble drying, its all rather vague and succinct.

Vague? Or succinct?

Either way, you will get minimal shrinking with subsequent washes. You bought too big.

Just get them tailored. Having an inch taken out of the waistband and subsequent leg adjustment is no trouble if the guy knows what he's doing.

You'll lose the chainstitch but it's worth it if they fit better.

Should've sized down, and at least posted in small questions or Samurai thread...but if the biggest problem is the waist stretching out, hot wash, hot dry and wear a belt...
