I was dismayed to not find a cheap one at Target...only waffle-sandwich concepts with all sorts of interchangable shit.

But you know Wal-Mart had the exclusive 10 dollar model. "Made by Rival for Wal-Mart."

Bought a German made one for $30 here. It was that or the Hello Kitty one for $35. Also had to pay $6 for a 12 pack of Velveeta singles.

The nicer one would be the way to go in any case. This Wal-Mart model is already kind of rocky on the hinges after a single session. Piece of shit. The four layers of tortilla probably didn't help.

Damn, $6 for 12 slices? I guess I take cheese for granted...fuck, six bucks will get you 1.5# of 10 year old cheddar around here.

word up, you gotta create a loving relationship between you and the toasted sandwich maker before you hit it up with the dagwood quesadilla project. It can do it, but it's a $10 appliance so you got to treat it like a girl, go slow at first and stick with the classics, get it all lubed up, and then stick the big one in there if you think it won't break and scream and light shit on fire.

Gonna fire mine up in a second and post back, but I will be taking it slow at first, it's like a first kiss or a single index finger all up in her, gotta take it slow so she trusts me.

No pics because it ended up sticking and making a mess when I was popping her cherry, but I just made a new sandwich called the 'croque Senor'

-Refried beans (leftovers found in fridge)

-cheese single

-ham

-salsa (also leftover from fridge, this was like fresh salsa from some restaurant though so it had onions and cilantro in it)

-jalapeno slices

-cheese single

Verdict: too much cheese, leaked all over the place and made a mess. Sandwich itself is delicious.

the kid i'm sharing the apartment with brought an old ass sandwich maker and we made some regular (gouda, leftover salami, ham, lots of pepper) sandwiches. the damn thing already had a hard time swallowing those thin ass loads, so i'm really worried if i can pull of some next level student recipies up in there......

Sounds great. I'm trying some beans this time around as well.

I was pretty rough on her. Brute Eastern-Euro-porn-czar style, hunkered over the cheap little thing, forcing the deal. I'll stick with her though. Hopefully gentleness interspersed with harsh moments won't pan out as miserably as in real life.

tonight's college food special:

Vegetable & Tofu stir fry over pasta

Didn't have any rice or rice noodles, so I just went with what I had. Ended up pretty good, a bit burned tasting from the sesame oil sitting for a bit, but was pretty good. Filling fo sho.

i love my sandwich maker

my gf made me a jam (or jelly) and sour cream (Philadelphia cheese works too, maybe better) sandwich, it tasted like a pillsbury strudel.

edit: i have so much ramen and udon here, my parents bought boxes of it so i'll be trying some stuff during the quarter.

Noodly wonton pockets would be a good project for this.

Cold linguine, crunchy peanut butter and a little sesame seed oil, aybe a lil fish sauce if you like the umami, some more crushed peanuts, some shredded chicken, cilantro, green onions, some habaneros or thai chilies, red onion, some cucumber slices and bean sprouts, then a couple lime wedges, that can work as a cold dish too, not too expensive to make either.

Also, another cheap way to eat in college:

step 1: find skinny, generous, non-eating rich CWG freshman or dorming sophomore

step 2: crack n shack

step 3: eat off her meal plan, tell her you swipe her, she swipes you

be sure to steal siverware and condiments for later.
