The Designers Republic is dead

If you know anything about graphic design and logography and in particular British rave culture flyers then you know that The Designers Republic was one of the most iconic and influential graphic design houses of the 80s-90s-00s.

They helped influence the look and feel of iconic club flyers, labels/brands like Warp records, the Wipeout video-game campaign, etc., and were a huge inspiration to graphic designers everywhere.

Well sadly they closed shop last Tuesday and its a damn shame.

IDEA vs. the Designer's Republic Special Projects is one of my prized possessions. Has all their Wip3out stuff which was mindblowing back in the day.

The "death" of tDR is debatable, since many of the guys who basically WERE tDR have been long gone from the company, most of them becoming pretty big in their own right. The aesthetic lives on in guys like Michael C. Place and Sanderson Bob, amongst others. I think the fact that tDR, as a "business entity," dying, is irrelevant.
