single malts, blends, islays, highlands or lowlands, its my favorite liquor. i like to drink it neat, and id like to learn much much more about it (i know very little id say), as well as hear some favorites from people who know their shit. hopefully have it be for booze what the marijuana thread is to illicit drugs

fade, you classy enough for this thread? or is scotch not really your game?

im chilling on a glass of justerini and brooks right now, im cheap

I know hardly anything about scotch either, but I'm ready to learn! I'm a pretty big fan of a late night glass of dewar's (usually with ice, but sometimes not) while I'm watching a movie or drawing up some stuff.

If I'm at a bar, I usually get shots of Johnny Walker, but that hardly even tastes like scotch to me (probably cause I'm used to the dewars).

I haven't tried my hand at more expensive scotches, nicest I've gone is glennfiditch, which was pretty good, but not enough for me to want to buy a bottle!

Makers used to generally be the best bourbon you could get most places. But I'm noticing more and more bars stocking Knob Creek now. Which (although obviously no Black Maple Hill) definitely puts me in a better mood.

And on the scotch kick. I'm sitting here with some Springbank right now. Not sure what I think. It's the first Campbeltown region scotch I've bought. Got an unexpectedly mild flavor.

Bourbon: once the Buffalo Trace is gone, I'm picking up some Woodford Reserve.

Irish whisky: just finished a bottle of Black Bush; it's on the sweet side, but for a blended, it's a steal of a bottle.

Canadian whisky: currently trying Forty Creek, and for the price, it's one of the better Canadian whiskies (not much competition anyway).

SMS: probably going to pick up some Highland Park 12 y.o next. Been eyeing it.

Islay - I got to go Laphroiag. I prefer it to Ardbeg.

Bourbon wise, I'm definitely feeling the Buffalo Trace these days. A friendly bartender let me try Eagle Rare single barrel 17 year (made by the Buffalo Trace distillery). Good stuff!

^^ laphroiag is good, but man, ardbeg is a monster. love that stuff.

best bottle under $50: balvenie doublewood

talisker 10 is pretty awesome too. 16 is even better,

btw, screw bad bourbon. thats like how the BK crowd started to drink powers. that stuff is straight terrible.

ayo dino you need to get on some caol ila 18. good blend of peetyness/smoknyess, great depth and overall flavor.

if you like american whiskeys (bourbon, rye), then get up on any of the michters 10 year batches. you cant go wrong w/ anything michters, no matter the year.

black maple rye is dope too. american whiskey is general is the shit.

The humble Glenmorangie 10 year is my favorite. In winter I'll lean towards Macallan or Balvenie. I like them young and sweet. Highland Park is the closest to smoky that I can currently palate.
