I got the biggest doofus asking me about my Bathing Ape shit. And these are law school geeks. Though Ape is big now it reaches a whole new level when you got the world's biggest nerds asking about Ape. I remember they asked me about dunks when I was a 1L and since SBs have blown up. But, I think people are going to jump on the Nudie bandwagon, and I think Nom we big large.

Fiberops

Rockwell

The Hundreds

WoodWood

American Apparel (in Europe)

H&M (outside Europe)

Viktor & Rolf (pret-a-porter stuff)

Maharishi / MHI

And lots and lots of local brands..

agree with djrajio above, jil sander/raf simons are gonna be big

as for nudie, it's had plenty of time to be big here in montreal/northamerica, but i feel like the market here is geared towards trends and consumer recognization. like sevens/citizens/true religion and those sorts, they buy into the trends and only wear what people think others will find "trendy, expensive"

this is all pretty obvious, but for some reason montreal has taken this way further. with the exception of about 3 stores, all the so-called fashion stores pretty much exclusively sell brands like true religion, diesel, lacoste, g-star, energie, etc

nudie in a way, is too "cheap" to catch on. denim that is priced between stuff like jack and jones on the lower end and true religion on the upper end of the mass market premium jeans will be passed over. they'll either save up for TR, so people can admire or impulse buy the jack and jones.

just my two cents

for what it's worth squredot will have a few more "public" releases this coming year, got AA to make me some tee's to my specs, they fit the bill, so i can go a bit more "mass produced" and lower some prices.. but don't think that means I'm going mainstream..

always limited cuts, always the realest.. squareDOT givingTREE

And that is why Montreal is a shitty city to shop in.

But I agree.. Unless a celeb wears Nudies, they aren't going to catch on. Heck, look at all the stores trying to liquidate their stock at 50% off or greater (got a pair for 75% off).

Doesn't bother me one bit, though. Just means less ppl wearing the same shit as me, and more people wondering why the hell I'm spending $200 on these 'weird unknown' jeans when I could be buying a pair of Seven's.

Nudie will be big for a bit, expensive & good quality jeans from an exotic(?) country, with signs to say so.

Acne will be growing fast in the US in the coming year.

Raw denim will be huge in Sweden. No more pre-wash. Look out for the selvedge hype.

Sander/Simons is not something new, neither is Viktor&Rolf.

I would be guessing that Christoffer Lundmand will get a job at some large name, that it's safe to buy Unconditional and Folk 3 items this year, that Helmut Lang will definitely dissapear with the lack of an entire season and that Givenchy clothing is freakingly hot.

Actually, The Sander/Simmons thing is new. He may have "taken over" as creative director back in July, but unless you're part of his design team, you haven't seen what he's got in the works for this coming season. His shoes haven't even gone on sale yet, have they? As for Helmut lang, do you think he'll ever find a way to make it back to designing clothes again? I see a lot of bickering back and forth on here about the coolest new denim labels, but he was the FIRST to do great jeans, cutting them slim and simple back in the late 90's. I really miss his vision, and menswear just isn't the same now.

Nope, only samples. Those shoes are really nice, and yes I have high hopes with Simons being in charge.

Julien MacDonalds' recent stuff for Givenchy is just digusting but Ozwald Boateng,on the other hand, was pretty intelligent and well designed.

My point wasn't that Raf Simons was anything new, I'm just saying that Jil wasn't a brand "dying" in any way, it was in need of a new designer.

I ment the Ozwald Boateng items. The grey, cashmere/silk jacket from AW05, my freaking god I wanted it.

Complice, Lang actually didn't do that, Raf did it. He had Raws with clean backpockets and slimfit from 1996 I think, just after the label started. Not that I cared back then, but I saw the adds at a retail store in Belgium. Just another point in his direction.

Good call on that, skecr8r. I didn't realize that denim was part of Simon's arsenal so early on. It would be wrong to call him the, "first" to do good jeans. I guess I'm just a little partial to Helmut Lang, and it will be sort of shitty to see him totally disappear from the radar after so long.
