May some of the more technically educated heads out there can help me.I was thinking about getting the fishtail parka out which is a "pv coated nylon poly mix herringbone shell with nylon lining". A) what exactly is that? How does that stack up to a goretex shell in terms of warmth water resistance and durability?

Any help would be appreciated.

pv coated poly nylon herringbone means that the fabric is a herringbone weave nylon with a "plastic" coating. SO, it basically means water resistant...

No sweat minya. And thanks blanco. I thought it might mean that but I wasn't sure. I'm just weary because I know with certain coated nylon materials you need to use a tech wash or else you'll mess up the coating. I didn't know whether pv was a special kind or not.
