no good reasno beyond the way people feel about being retro late 80's early 90's right now.

they in demand to fulfill that look and because its just an item that ain't around like that anymore

Uhuh, yah I guess its to fulfill the look of the era, but I saw a pair going for $300 US about two weeks ago, which isnt too bad.
