those top 2 look Korean influenced, though I know the only place to find okra in Korea, and it's not easy to find...

^love bitter melon, if you soak it overnight it removes the bitter taste but I have grown to like a few bitter flavors.

I love the okra. The key to cooking it well is to make sure no water touches it... that's what makes it slimy. Indian dishes make sure it is well dried before sauteing.

Also I think it's good to get young fresh okra... it's an acquired taste. The leaves are also good raw or with the okra in sinigang soups. My favorite dish is really crisp okra tempura... Ichiza in Las Vegas serves this up for a very reasonable price and it's amazing.

I'm a fan of cheap and also easy to grow vegetables and this is on my list of things to grow in my back yard.
