number one tip: dont make friends

study study study. top marks. no tiem to play.

fill your hours with studying / work.

fact of jc: another 2 years of high school.

the slackers come here, and the brightest come.

stiff competition... hard work will be payed off, dont stray off the road to success.

JuCo is a great place to up your grades before taking your game to a UC. I had a lot of HS friends that also went to the same CC as me so it was like a continuation of HS.

As far as meeting people is hard, you just have to do it in classes. Talking to chicks in class is good because you don't have much competition and if the girl is into you you can have a reason (that's not too obvious) to hang out with her outside of class besides that.

fuck it, i live in the bay area, the JC i go to is a joke. bunch of old vietnamese people. definitely don't go to de anza that really is a continuation of high school, and that's what i wanted to avoid entirely. it is boring, it's not hard to make friends but use it to like what they said above, higher your GPA and join bullshit clubs

haha, after reading the first line i thought "she has to be talkin bout de anza"

In retrospect (always 20/20) i probably would have gone to a JUCO for 2 years and transferred to a top tier school (usc? ucla?) but in no ways regret going straight to a UC. Good times either way

good for you that you're transferring after a year. Make sure all your credits count and are uc certified if you're planning on going that way. My brother had a bunch of shit that didn't transfer, so it kinda wasted time. I have a bunch of friends that are transferring to UCLA and to be quite honest, some of them were dumb shits in high school but got all A's in junior college.

the only downfall to the whole transfer thing is missing out on being a first year, which might not even matter so long as you make an effort to meet people when you actually transfer.

ooh make sure that even when you get your foot in the door, dont slack off.. my friends brothers partied too much and nearly failed their first years at la after transferring... finding balance in your schedule and micromanaging your time is very importatn.

Guess I can cross out Mission and De Anza...That leaves Ohlone or going straight to SJSU.

i actually know someone that transferred after one year to a regular college. trust me its definitely worth it to sacrifice your social life for 1 year to invest in your future.

whoever said that its not worth it is a fucking moron- without a college degree, at least in the US, you're fucked unless you become a successful entrepreneur

from what i've heard from my friends transferring from JC to college is really easy compared to from high school to college. They screwed around in HS and 2 years later got into LA and a full ride to Cal. you should really consider it

I could think of 100 things that you can do without a college degree and make a very good living: Cop, fireman, military, any union job, business owner, just to name a few. Saying you're fucked is a ridiculous assertion. Saying a college degree is a meal-ticket is even more ridiculous.

I couldn't reply fast enough I was in que haha,

But out of my 2 days in CC so far, it seems alright. I still enjoy the freedom college gives you. There's a lot of people on campus but I'm assuming all that is gonna die down after maybe 2 weeks. I just hope to get A's this semester all the way and the book line is fucking RIDICULOUS. It's horrible.

A lot of cute girls but they're always walking too fast or with hella other people. Haha.

I gotta keep telling myself it's going to be worth the hard work once I make it back into the UC system. I just hope if i don't get in of the one of my choice, that I don't stay another year and transfer as a 4th year

I need to get books. I'm getting lazy already

i agree and disagree at the same time.

Yes, you can have a decent (to whom?) job w/o a college degree, but are those jobs that most people want? Fuck no! Being a firefighter pays well, but then again you are constantly risking your life. Not exactly what i would consider a good living. And a cop? lol, who the fuck would want to do that? I forgot which comedian said it but it went something like "When you get pulled over for a traffic violation, just know that all it takes to be the 6 foot asshole walking towards you is a high school diploma." SO yeaaa....

Conversely, i did graduate and received my bachelors, but even then, the job market isnt looking so promising. Sure, a bachelors degree is something that will put you ahead of other people, but that still isnt enough to obtain positions that a hungry young adult would want, it simply gets your foot in the door.

Nowadays, you gotta have your masters+ if you wanna be a B.A.L.L.E.R. And how do you expect to be a business owner if you dont have any money or any management skills? All those businesses you see shutting down within a year of inception were probably high school diploma holders getting in over their head.

bah, i hate growing up
