MP3 Players that are NOT ipod

So I was at the outlet mall yesterday and I walked into the Sony store and I noticed that all their mp3 players were like 30% off. So it turns out I picked up a NWZ-A818 (8gb player) for like $90.

Now I've used nothing but iPods in the past and I picked up this player because it was dirt cheap. After playing with this thing for about 3 hours or so, I am now convinced that iPods are shit. (except the touch).

The thing is great, I don't need to install software, its just drag and drop, no iTunes bullshit. It has got great form factor, plus the ear buds that came with it are fucking awesome. They sound great. Anyways, making this purchase on a whim made me realize that there are a lot of better MP3 players out there. What are some mp3 players that you guys use that is not an iPod?

Zune by Microsoft. Coming up to a year with it no problems. Got a months (or so) free downloads at the start which was nice ... but all the tracks get expire which is crafty.

Cant complain but rarely watch videos on it so the largish screen on it is wasted on me.

yeah that what i use too. it froze the couple of times that i put videos on it but it works perfect with just music.

Yeah man.. the newer one is sick, I'm thinking about copping that before schools starts. I love that it has radio on it too, if you become sick of your music.

Ok, so I know it's not the most likely thing you'd expect on here but still, searching never hurts:

-thread

-thread2

We seriously need something that tells you a thread already exists when you are about to make a new one btw...

I really think that if a thread is over a year old, a new one popping up shouldn't be such a huge problem. If you can tell, sufu is kind of stale. We need more new threads. I'm not a huge fan of a million page threads that started in 2003...just sayin'

i've had an iriver h320 for 4 years now and only this year has it had problems. otherwise it was a great player for the time i had it. when i bought it, it was one of the first players with a color screen and cheaper than an ipod mini at the time except with 20gb of space.

Did you even click those links? The first one was recently bumped, and the discussion continued no problem.

In the end supertalk is a place that contains knowledge, by having 3 different threads on the exact same subject, each one not referencing the other, what you get is that that knowledge gets diluted and harder to actually get to/find.

If you think we need more threads, then by all means create more threads, new threads, on new subjects...

Just sayin'...

zune 80 is awesome.. your sony sounds OK though. only issue i have with MP3 players is the need to install specific software.. its just not manageable.. very few of the id tags on my songs are correct so they get mixed up too easily.. would rather just be able to drag and drop folders. i would love to just get something that is basically a SSD with a screen and install a pocket version of windows on it.

I had an H320 also that lasted me 4 years but only broke after I landed on it after being hit by a car on a rainy day.

Still considered one of the best players sound wise.

There was a hierarchy of the best sounding music players... Samsung, Cowon, Sony, iRiver and Creative are on top, Apple on the lower end.
