just random home games in boone and others back in raleigh when i'm home from school. going to dealing school is definitely something i'm considering for the future tho. would be a solid side job.

god hellmuth's book is such a dump. basically just describes how to play like a nit haha. hellmuth is an amazing tournament player tho, regardless of his many blowups and overall negative attitude. i respect his tournament play immensely but as far as the high stakes cash games go, he is a bit of a joke.

as far as "the best way to learn poker" goes, talking to fellow players and playing are my favorite methods. when i first started studying poker and my game, i burned through every book i could get my hand on. i have virtual copies of all harrington's stuff, super system 1 and 2, and a few others if anyones interested. the books left me a little lost at first, as i had Extremely limited experience at any game bigger than $.5/1. it was definitely all my hours on the table and the conversations about the hands we played that have improved my game. learning to play hi low and plo cost me hundreds...

Haha wow, the degen thread on 2+2 has some great posts. This guy posted numerous stories, all great, but this has to be my favorite.

My last day I had ~ $100 left and was walking around, and some black dude , promoter of a strip club aproached me telling me how awesome the strip club is and offered some weed. Hmm,strip club and weed sounded like a great idea, bought a small bag and headed for the strip club.

The strip club was more like a whore house, basically there were some strippers dancing on stages and most of the stripers just walking, aproaching guys offering sex. So this hot chick comes up starts chatting and tells me we can go upstairs and it will cost me $100. I got super horny after watching them strippers, but I only had around $60 left at that point after buying weed and paying a cover charge. I told her I will be back in less then an hour with the money, and literally ran to the casino to win some money on the dice machine.

I started playing and ran super hot,put $20 in the machine, won ~$60 pretty quikly and had enough to pay the stripper and even get some drinks, and almost cashed out, almost! Then I though it would be a good idea to try to make another $100 to get two girls for thresome. Kept playing, winning all the bets, I just couldn't ****ing lose. At the peak I had around $900 in the machine, and kinda forgot the reason I came to this place lol, but I just couldn't stop. Of course my luck stoped and I lost everything I had in the machine, and left the place with $40 but still very horny,so I ended up getting a BJ from bulgarian hooker in a street toilet for $20, instead of a threesome with hot stripers

This sort of a degen/tilt story.

When I first started playing this game I would absolutly Tilt like no other. We are talkign about mad monkey kill my own mother raging mega-****ing tilting. I have smashed mice, at least 4 keyboards (I started buying the cheap ones cuz I knew I would smash them), 2 monitors, 1 microwave, put my head thru 2 doors in my apt, 1 36" TV, at LEAST 15 holes in the wall I needed to patch, etc etc.

This one time I just went on a absolute ****ing cooler and lost a bunch of buyins.....commence Defcon 1 mega tilt. I have about say $800 at this point. I sit down at the 100NL table and buy in full. I sit there and go all in preflop EVERYHAND. I keep doing this and im swinging up and down. People are absolutly bashing me in the chat boxes. I proceed to go all in every single hand for sooo long...I dont know how long the session was because I was so mad I coulnt see straight.

I proceeded to lose my whole roll.....I THEN Redeposit $500 and do the SAME ****ING THING and go busto

PS Im a winngin player now and hardly ever tilt.....it comes once in ahwile though.

ahhhhh degens.... im kinda a degen, after dealing 7 or 8 hours i'll Always jump in the fucking game and play 5/6 handed until morning with my same degenerate friends.

playing 4 handed $1/1 nl holdem i wake up with kings utg and limp, BB is a terrible loose weak player, button is crazy lag so i was pretty sure someone would raise. well; 4 way limp pot flop

river 4d. BB bets $11 and i flat call; he turned a set of aces. and he had aces the hand before this one. not sure how i didnt raise, but i was just so sure i was beat. dude is a fucking idiot tho, makes bets like this regularly with busted draws, one pair, etc.

earlier in the night i checked my option with 33, flop 8d6c3c. i check, utg bets 3, +1 snap bets 15 total. i figured utg didnt have a real hand so i just ship it for ~$180 to get +1's money in there... utg shows and folds 86o WoW i play bad. +1 calls me for 60 after the 15 with A8c. drawing fucking dead

Hah was in a $55 10-table sng last night.. was already late halfway through the tourney so I came to bed and kept playing. Made it to the final table, ended up falling asleep during the game. Woke up in the middle of the night and apparently I came in 3rd

i've been running pretty hot in the husng's lately. i think i've finally found a game which i can use to build my bankroll! lol

the players at the lower stakes are just god awful. i'll flat call bluffs with bottom pair and they'll hold up a good majority of the time. i really enjoy the whole psychological aspect to heads up though, and i think i'm going to concentrate on grinding these games for the immediate future. i just get a much greater sense of accomplishment beating someone 1-on-1 instead of nut-peddling full ring tables i guess

yeah, grinding the 2.20s on pokerstars until i get maybe 30 buy-ins to move up to the 5s. should probably move up sooner rather than later, just because i think the rake on the 5s is almost the same as the 2s, and the players are about the same skill level imo (have taken a few "shots" at the 5s, lol)

Yeah it's the home game thing.. apparently you set up a club and you can schedule "home games" that only people in the group can play.

jayrock; hu seems to me to be where it's at, especially when just beginning to build your online bankroll. my friend rolled 30 dollars into 1200+ in a week after starting out sitting at $.25/.5 plo hu. he was murdering the plo 50, $55 double or nothings, and $4-11 mtts for awhile but eventually tilted it all off in a night. playing full ring online gets old so quick; ive never had enough money on there to afford to play more than 2-3 tables, and without being able to needle people, play props, watch live action i get boooooooored.

yeah, the full ring action is so boring. at one point i was multitabling 6 2nl tables... and even then... just not as much fun as HU imo

the double or nothings are pretty mindless too. you pretty much just nit it up until the blinds get big enough where they're worth stealing. trying to play actual poker in a DON is pretty much a waste of time. but i guess if you have the patience, they're not so bad for grinding out sign-up bonuses. they're super easy to multitable too

still haven't checked out that home game thing, as i got sidetracked last night working some OT. i'll try to take a look tonight, but i gotta tell ya -- i'm not too eager to be taking/giving money between just us sufu peeps. too many fish in the sea! lol
