DC to Indiana, DC to North Carolina essential stops

So im going to drive from Washington Dc to Indiana and then later, from DC to Charlotte, NC. I need some new sneakers and was wondering if there were any shoe factories that you guys know of near these places/along the way. I dont have $ for expensive boutiques at the moment so pls dont suggest that. Im more interested in factories and then maybe an attached store where I could get the stuff for cheap. I dont care if the stuff is generic, so much the better! Any recommendations would be really appreciated!
