canvas/cotton duck outerwear

I'm looking for a heavy canvas/cotton duck work coat -- something exactly like the Carharrt Chore Coat: (http://www.carhartt.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=10051&productId=32101&langId=-1&categoryId=10927) , but not that - not down with the fit on Carhartt US.

I did a little reasearch, all the usual suspects, but I haven't come across what I'm looking for.

(I did recently see the one I want, but didn't have a chance to figure out who made it, all I remember is that the buttons had the word 'Gear' - anyone know what that might be?)

Have you tried Filson. They make something like that, don't they?

Filson has stuff close to what I want, but I'm looking for something in a fabric more like Carhartt cotton duck, but with a slimmer fit.

Fjällräven doesnt have any cotton duck, just the g1000 fabric...

gnar, since carhartt is available in tall sizes, why not size down? I was looking at just that carhartt coat last fall, but ended up getting an ll bean orginal field coat instead.

another idea is looking at vintage hunting jackets on ebay, alot of cool models (as filson) in nice brown duck, but as always hard to tell about how slim something is...

Good idea, but the smallest Tall size they have is a large.

is available in a 40 tall. That has to be smaller than large... but since I dont know how big gnar is, kinda useless. Im a 42 tall myself in those jackets.

I run a 38 in Filson, so probably same in Carhartt. I'm typically a M, 38-40, but these brands tend to run really big. I don't think a long would help me cause - I'm not that tall.

Any thoughts on a brand that would make a jacket like this with the word 'Gear' on the buttons?

Sizing down on Carhartt gets you to a good fit. I.E.- a Small in Carhartt fits closely to my 37" chest. I'm 6'2", so that ends up being a little short, but you'd be perfect.

Barbour is probably a good bet or Belstaff. Both classic waxed cotton motorcycle jackets, which are always cut slimmer; just ditch the belt.
