i think that if you just see this movie for what it is, and not what inspired it or caused it to exist, its a pretty good little piece of time.

it does not go the two and a half hour route and fucking drag everything out, it leaves you wanting more of that back story that can end up killing the whole pace of the movie anyway.

lots of good gun porn in it, and for what it is, i think its great. nothing more than a popcorn movie, but it gives you what you want more or less.

just my 2 cents.

i just saw the movie last night, it was pretty intense imo, though I was probably more affected because I haven't seen a movie in the theatres in 2 months. Everything made sense to me, ending was abrupt but it was typical Will Smith hollywood so I'm not disappointed. (funny thing was my gf said she closed her eyes for a lot of the film). I am interested in reading the book/story it's based on now. Is there an online version?

p.s. i like how this thread sort of fell apart on page 3

I'm surprised with all the free shit he had available to him, that he didn't build supped up armored SUVs, mini vans, sports cars with UV lights and chain saws sticking out it sides.

Forget the armourned SUV, he drove past a few tanks at the beginning. Annoying movie. I hate when the characters have to start acting stupid to move the plot forward because they write themselves into a corner.

I had a couple issues about the movie but all in all it was entertaining and pretty much what i expected.

Mainly i thought these were the weakest zombie type monsters ever to appear in any movie. For those of you who say he should have been in some insane zombie killer uber tank, the streets were way congested and a tank would not have worked. With no zombies out during the day, even a vespa would have sufficed. Something small like a motorcycle would probably be ideal.

For how smart a guy he was portrayed to be i can't believe in three years he never ONCE thought of using UV light as a defense? in three years he couldn't figure out how to rig tanning bed tops to line his house? honestly i would rather take on these "dark seekers" over the regular slow moving brain eating zombie variety any day. zombies that cant come out during the day is such a huge handicap that it killed the horror part of the movie for me.

I was under the impression that the "Dark Seekers" we're portraying a vampire like creature. Hence the sensitivity to light.

I have no explanation for the lack of UV lighting though. I believe the idea that character held was attracting as little attention to his house in general was the way to survive. It might have been somewhat odd to see a built up super UV emitting house. The dark seekers then might have noticed if said UV lighting was installed.
