501 shrink-to-fit advice please!

I've just received a pair of standard 501 shrink-to-fits. Yesterday I sat in a lukewarm bath in them, tumble dried them for 20 minutes inside out (I know this isn't ideal but I couldn't wear dripping jeans) then wore them for a bit while they dried. Tried them on today and although they are pretty stiff they have shrunk a bit and fit pretty good.

My question is what to do now? I am thinking of just wearing them for as long as possible without washing, my only concern is would they shrink much more, meaning wear marks would be in the wrong place?

Don't worry about it, you've taken care of the shrinkage. They will only shrink a tiny amount more if anything at all.

They should wear OK shouldn't they, even though they are just pretty basic denim, or is it not worth bothering with non-selvege denim?

They'll wear just fine. Non-selvedge denim is well worth bothering about.

They seem to have shrunk a good 3-4 inches in the leg but not much on the waist (prob an inch), I did however use a waistband stretcher to keep the waistband at it's original size. I think without that they would have probably shrunk a couple of inches.

It is quite hard to tell because they are quite stiff and they may seem longer when they've softened up a bit

i wear 30/30 on preshunk 501s.. what should i get if im getting shrink to fits? im thinking 31/32?

I suggest not washin STF 501xx at all (not the vintage ones, Im talking about the 30 dollar ones). The dye washes out badly and they turn into a cheap looking overdyed indigo after you wash them. I did that with my first pair and learned my lesson.

i've also recently purchased some 501xx shrink to fits and they're great !

been wearing them for 2 weeks now, no washes, loosens up a bit!

actually the thing that's nice about 501 shrink-to-fits is that prior to washing they actually hardly stretch out at all...they keep their shape really well.
