SO I just preordered my copy off of Amazon ( After a gruelling 6 hour study of the different versions on offer I ascertained that I needed to go for the 22 disc special edition that comes with pair of Roy Batty's soiled shorts and a test tube full of replicant DNA ) and now I'm wondering what everyone else who cares is thinking about it ...

Good idea? Opportunist marketing exercise? Indulgence piece?

I'm going to pass on the super-mega-collector set and just go for the Final Cut dvd. I'm hoping this edit makes the story flow better and gives some more depth.

the final cut is basically the director's cut....hard to see any differences unless you've got the film memorized

but still worth watching on the big screen

on a side note, when i went to the showing the theater looked and smelt like a retirement home

There's a huge amount of info about Philip K Dick on the 5 disc box set tht's just been released. Anyone with even a slight interest in how this movie plays on any level should be picking it up IMO.

why does ridley scott's films always get fucked over and need cause to make multiple versions of dvd releases? just look at kingdom of heaven's cutting fiasco.
