Anyone been to Fake Alpha in Harajuku?

I was searchin deadstock Big E 505s yesterday and the guys in Ber Ber Jin told me to head over to their "main store", Fake Alpha.

Any SuFu posters been? No doubt the old denim heads here have.

Shit was amazing. It was like a fully stocked jeans store woulda been like in the 60s or something. 20,000 deadstock pairs, arranged folded on shelves just like they woulda been, in almost every size. You can handle em, no problem. Only thing is they start at 100,000 yen.

Smell was amazing. Awesome.

Real old school, some jeans behind glass, most out. Seemed mostly Levis. Like you said though, crazy expensive!

Nah thats not it. This is behind Takeshite street. I know the store you`re talking about tho, the dudes in there are crazy. I asked if they had shit with higes and the dude was like "I hate hige" and wouldnt help me anymore. Another time one of em told me they had no 505s then I walked over to a pile of 505s behind glass and asked the prices. I was quoted 262,000 on a deadstock pair which is waaaaay over market price, pretty sure they didnt want to sell me anything just coz they didnt like my face.

deadstock 505s hardly ever come up on ebay. Actually dont think I`ve ever seen em. I`m guessing 99% of pairs have ended up in the Japanese market.

I've never had any problems 'handling' jeans displayed at stores in their curatory glory. Most are actually very willing to talk about it as long as you don't come off as a reseller at a 'everything must go! liquidation sale'. I don't mean to imply that this somehow applies to your case. I dress like I do data entry at initech - less initmidating and easier to level with I guess.

There are a lot of older people who are mostly unaware of these forums/stores/auctions or do not have the time to invest tracking down their 'holy grails'. To most - these vintage pairs represent fond memories of someone close to them (a lot end up at these stores from estate sales - some possibly from their own). There are mailing schemes and 'bounty' hunters who play proxy - except they aren't playing for 10/20% . With this inflated standardization - these middle men are cut off and the stores get to play 'fair'.

I understand the appeal of these jeans - they fill a void even reproductions with their great attention to detail don't. If you see something nice close to 100,000 pick them up if you really want them.

Yeah theres a DS pair in my size on Yahoo auctions right now for a shade over 100K. When I handled them in Fake alpha and then some repros in the Levi`s store down the street the difference was so clear. Besides being stiffer and darker the vintage has this factor thats indiscribable, something gotten from being really fucken old and just sitting there unused..
