If you want to stop being a fashion victim (see chip&pepper) or a fashion sheep (see apc denim) here it is...

Tangerine,

I drink Makers Mark. I know its Bourbon. Also, if you enjoy your C&pepper who am I to tell you to stop? I guess there are worse brands you could be wearing. Although in the interest in not pissing anyone else off I will not mention them.

Wild what whisky do you drink?

I actually dig the 5 pocket!

Didn't spend much time investigating the rest of the site but the stuff looked decent to me.

& as for knocking how the models look in the stuff well that's always the case. Most lines have the models looking like Herbs & the discerning denim-head can sort through that.

Lame aproach Yates for sure but whatever...

Yates, I'm in the US and here whiskey means bourbon to most people, we call Scotch whiskey Scotch, or single-malt, and Irish whiskey, Irish whiskey, etc.

My usual bourbon is Woodford Reserve, but I will sometimes splurge on higher end small batches like Basil Hayden, Hirsch, Black Maple Hill or, if feeling very flush, Pappy Van Winkle.

Back on topic, baaa! j/k. I chased a lot of trendy jeans last year and am now looking at plainer styles, although I have not found many stores in my area that carry selvedge denim. Certainly no Dior Homme.

Where are you located?

Tangerine I dont wear Dior either. But as far as "skinny jeans" go I think they are the best. Right now I am wearing a pair of "Eternal" jeans I bought in Tokyo last september. The fit is a knock off's of 501XX but the Japanese denim is higer quality.Levi's is still cool though.

Im in Tribeca right now.

Some 501XX are Kaihara denim, which is a Japanese mill (47' repros).

My jeans are nicer and cheaper than those oxen things.

Oh, yeah, and those Vuitton sneakers are fucking garbage. MOST unoriginal. Look like sketchers or worse.

Blanc what jeans are you referring to?? the ones your wearing? or the ones you make? what are they called?

My eternal are indigo dipped 15-20 times. the 501 kiahara's are probably dipped 4 - 6 times.....

the higher quality the indigo, and the more times dipped produces a deeper blue. I have the 501repros. they are good. But new Japanese companies are just doing it better...

I think the Vuitton shoes look cool.

Yates, Eternal jeans are very revered here between a lot of us.

I drink all kinds of whisky. My favorite for casual consumption is Johnny Walker Black label. I generally drink single malts a lot slower. I also like Maker's Mark very much, as well as Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit. Suntory whisky is pretty good too.

Lately I've been drinking a lot of gin, though.

Yates, I think you've overstayed your welcome already. And no you haven't called me either a fashion victim or a fashion sheep, it's the simple fact that you're trying to plug your shitty brand in such an obtrusive manner. You've definitely received a great deal of publicity, props. Blanc0 was saying that his Levi's Signature line that sells in Wal-Mart is nicer and cheaper than your Oxen, by the way.

And yes... I thought you were serious about the Eternal.. based on the complete trash you posted earlier, I seriously doubted you were being sarcastic. Though that was hard to believe.

Haha, well no matter how much exposure Eternal has on this board, they're still only going to be known amongst 0.0001% of Americans. Other notable repro companies often discussed by the hardcore: Warehouse, Sugarcane, Denime, Samurai, Studio D'Artisan, Full Count. I love the denim used on those jeans but I don't like the vintage cut. I'm gonna be staying in Japan for a year probably 2007-2008 and I'm sure at some point I'll pick up the sweetest jeans I can ever find.

Have you heard of Julian Reds? They're Swedish skinny-fit jeans. They aren't sold in any retail stores in the US. I am wearing a pair right now, they're 14.5 oz with a really bright redline selvage, I've been told the denim is woven in Spain.

Wild. Ive never heard of those jeans. Do you know where I can find a picture of them? how is the hand of the denim? Thats awsome that you are going to japan for a year. Check out a store in Daikanayama called "Okura" every product inside of the store is the color indigo. Jeans, tshirts, socks, jewelry. everything. its pretty sick......

Yates thats a nice touch.

No doubt they're artists in their natural environments but surely a photo session happened & somebody threw them in certain jeans with a certain fit. Those cats could probably have cared less. Similar to someone modeling for D&G or whoever.

My point being that folks should go by the quality of denim & check things in person. I've been on plenty of shoots wear stylists are laundry clothes line clipping the backs of waists, etc. can be very decieving you feel me.

I feel you dog. You are not incorrect, most shoots are heavily styled, and sometimes the product shot isnt even offered. I would say two things about the Oxen shoot. 1. although most models dont care what it is they are modeling, none of the dudes in the shoot would put on a pair of d&g;s period. So it says something about the product that these non models would allow themselves to be shot in it. 2. All of the dudes had worn Oxen for several months before the shoot. These dudes are wearing there personal jeans/duck. There was no stylist involved. Just a photographer. All these guys are wearing the product in there own way in there own environment.

Thanks for the shout-out....keep it real.

Sorry, let me clarify: the jeans I make are Levi Strauss Signature, they sell for between 19.99-27.99 @ Target, Wal-Mart, Kmart. They are nicer.

The Kaihara denim is NOT dipped 4 to 6 times, you don't know what you're talking about. I know you can't honestly tell the difference between 15 and 20 dip denim.

You didn't even know that thoe 501's were Kaihara until I typed it. Don't front, you already edited that shit out.

bed - I got them directly from Julian Red in Sweden.

Very, very textured. They're soft but heavy, and aren't loaded with so much starch as other raw jeans I've owned.

I'm sure that I'll forget about this statement by the time I go there, but I'm also sure that during my searches, I'll eventually find it anyway.

Since I have a camera today I thought I'd throw a picture in:

jrstand1pv.jpg

Julian Red California, No-Wash, 29x34 They're about a month old and have faded more than the picture shows. Flashes tend to do this though :)

"Oh true, some guy called me a sheep for wearing APCs. Man, maybe I should re-evaluate." SIKE.

Yates: Maybe try to be POSITIVE about your site without being NEGATIVE about other brands. People might be more open minded to you instead of just feeling like some random herb is insulting them.

^^^^^Good call Redfox. Be positive brother. Coming in knocking other brands and insulting the cats on here is mighty rough. It sounds like you are intimidated by other brands. Live it, love it and stand behind your brand with positivity man. everybody has a different take on the denim industry, it's all such a personal thing.

Some etymology for you:

Whisky: scotch

Whiskey : bourbon

Wild, I am a gin fan too. I usually like to drink Tanquery 10 and Soda with a twist of lime. I also love a nigroni every now and again; had one today after work.

Also Yates, isn't the point of indigo dyed denim that it fades quickly? I think so. Then difference is in the quality of dye and the dyeing process that makes a jean that will fade with a lot of contrast. My signature doesn't have anything to do with Carpe Denim jeans, I am a round rivet kind of guy.

Carpe Denim!
