Good boots for when in the winter/snow?

I have a pair of Jodhpurs that I love, but I'm definitely not going to be running around in those when/if snow hits/its wet/ blah blah. I want something that I could not be afraid of getting into puddles or getting wet and whatnot.

I was considering a pair of Red Wings, because I convieniently have a Red Wings store very, very close by. However, maybe there's something sleeker out there? I would love a pair of the Alden Shell Cordovan Indys in Black, but I'm trying to see if there's anything cheaper. Maybe I'll get a pair eventually (or maybe just bite down and buy them now). I have a pair of Alden Shell Cordovan Oxfords, and I think the shell cordovan would be good against the elements. Could be wrong though.

However, I'd like to not spend anymore than 300 dollars give or take. Any suggestions?
