I was more impressed with Fish, he has been making waves lately winning in Newport and Atlanta and since his surgery he has lost so much weight. He seems to be like the reverse of james blake, not as much talent but willing to really work for it. The US could be really open this year(don't we say this every year though), it might be the year for a dark horse. I hope Clijsters cleans up the womens though.

yes, Fish's performance definitely was something that caught a lot of people's attention. i just happen to be more partial towards Federer when up against anyone else. the US Open on the men's side will be deep as usual even without Tsonga, Haas, or the defending champ del Potro. other players have definitely stepped up their game this year to make things interesting (ie. Berdych, Fish, Baghdatis).

the women's side appears to be pretty open for a number of people if they can stay consistent. it's really up for (almost) anyone's taking i feel, since serena's presence won't be there. then again, there is venus...
