i saw green day at city gardens, trenton, nj in 1992 and they rocked

they were fucking fantastic until they started getting groomed

39/smooth and kerplunk were great fucking pop records

dookie is good, i guess, but i didn't buy this record until it hit dollar bins in the late 90s---------it reminds me of dead friends

i mean c'mon they were on the questionable video soundtrack

one thing I feel that they are getting old.. there is no time and risk for them to do complete something new.. (if something works out for you and make you great great money and fame, why would you take such a risk to change it?) I guess they are trying to be like U2 but in an EMO way?

i am sure they still have somewhat of a 'punk rock mentality' in their mantra, but i would not consider their music punk rock. i think this is why green day has become a 'shitty band' for many punk rock listeners, because many have forgotten their music has matured and evolved to something different than their lookout days.

to me, they are a great pop rock band, and there is nothing wrong with pop music.

theres nothing wrong with green day, sure warning sucked and american idiot was ok sounding but full of boring propaganda,but kerplunk is awesome and dookie/insomniac/nimrod are all more than alright

i have seen them live every time (except for one win tickets off the radio show) theyve been in toronto from nimrod-now and they have been, at the very least, fun on each occasion

anyways, i still have a soft spot for green day, and i still have the tape of dookie my friend made me in like, 94 haha

Come on... they're not that bad... especially older stuff. I'm not a huge fan, but there's wayyyyyy worse shit out there, even in the same genre (whatever genre that may be). Is Greenday "punk"? Who cares... the what's punk and what's not debate could go on forever. To me they're not, they're just decent pop-rock that, while not great by any means, is more listenable than a lot of stuff these days.
