The old ball & chain convinced me to drop $160 on a pair of Vilebrequin trunks. I went with the traditional (shorter) cut that hits about mid-thigh. The shape is really nice, and the suit actually does have features that help justify the price:

- limited runs on all designs

- comes with an airtight plastic wallet for the pool

- some technology to prevent bubbles and rabbit ears (pockets hanging out)

- plastic travelling to bag in case you have to travel with a wet suit

- 15-minute drying time -- or so the saleswoman said. That's proven to be bullshit though.

All worth $160? If you're a sucker for premium brands, probably. If your a tech nerd, definitely not.

Ultimately, I'm still getting used to how colorful they are. They've definitely grown on me somewhat. Fortunately, I don't chill in the Hamptons, where I'm led to believe that every moneyed douche bag owns a pair of these.
