How do the heads feel about this flick? I came up in this era & actually appreciated the Z Boys docu (didn't even mind the Sean Penn V/O)...

I'm really torn with the sell out Hollywood studio film factor.

I'm a D.C. guy that came up hardcore straight edge as well & I'd probably freak if that was turned into a major with Orlando Bloom playing Ian McKaye & some other shithead playing Henry (Garfield) Rollins etc.

Anything sacred? Or I'm just old as hell I guess...

Im torn about it also, although I'm from a different generation than the Z-Boys. I find it very interesting though that since the release of the documentary, the young skateboard culture has totally reverted back to the long-haired, tight pants, lay-back stee-lo. I live literally down the street from the mar vista school which was one of the Z-Boys' spots, and skate there all the time. Its always me, and like 20 5th-graders who look like they've been plucked straight out the '70s. They couldnt care less about P.Rod's flippy tricks, they're all about hang-tens and daffys.

All I know is that once the movie drops, we're gonna see a HUGE surge of this kinda thing. Whether that's good or bad, who knows.

Considering I haven't seen the movie yet, the only real problem I have so far is that they got the chick who made that "Thirteen" movie directing this one. She knows JACK about skateboarding, so I think the films gonna be pretty heavy-laden with teenage-angst and pre-pubescenet sexual tension. I guess its better than the original director (who was Fred Durst - AACK)

Oh yeah and also - I hear you about a straight-edge/hardcore flick! That'd be hilarious. Knowing Hollywood, they'd get Simple Plan to stand in as Rites of Spring, and have Ray and Porcell played by Ashton Kutcher and Wilmer Valderrama

i watched an early viewing in april. so hollywood. hollywood can't leave anything alone these days. it was a total teen scene.
