How to tell Lacoste polo from fakes

pica

Recommended Posts

I just bought a new pink Lacoste pique polo and one difference i noted on my shirt, as opposed to the one on the site you mentioned, is mine does not have a tag under the neck tag. You can see it in the picture on the website. I was curious after spending 109 canadian dollars on a polo, and was considering buying some off of ebay now that i know my size, but I think i will stay away from them. Also, i noticed the croc on the shirt on this website is too high, it should be under the bottom button, not aligned with it. Anyways, Thanks for convincing me to shop only at the Lacoste store.

i have a brand new mens Black Lacoste polo size XS, with tags still attached. i also have tagged pics of the price tag to prove authenticity. if anyone's interested i'll let it go for 50us obo (before shipping costs). just leave me a pm so you dont have to shit on the thread.

quick comment on lacoste polos. Even in Lacoste boutiques, a lot of the shirts will say hecho en peru. The shirts also come in poly bags ... In the Houston Galleria boutique and the Lacoste boutique in San Antonio I have seen shirts in these bags. The bags I have seen have a silver croc on the front whereas a lot on ebay come in green bags. Telltale signs are the code that was posted above, and also look for the Devanlay tag. You can tell the difference in quality in a lot of the fakes also. Also remember, Lacoste has factories all over the world. My gf and I were at the Houston Galleria Lacoste boutique and went around looking where the different tags said they were from. There was Hungary, Peru, Mongolia, and other places. I would guess 50 % of the Lacostes on ebay are fake, and of those 25% are a really crummy quality while others are very close to the authentics. If you can't afford to buy authentic lacostes then ebay is a good way to go just be careful of what you're buying

I have a quetion.... I just got a Lacoste Polo as a gift. It says "Lacoste" in the alligator, and there is an alligator on the sleeve (it is a short sleeve one) that too says "Lacoste" in it. For starters, are they suppost to say that? And secondly, it says "Chemise Lacoste" on the tag. And, it also says "La Chemise Lacoste" on the arm.

Is this a fake Lacoste shirt??

Please e-mail me: [email protected] (PLEASE SUBJECT IT AS: LACOSTE SHIRT)

Thanks so much,

Billy

i might not be an incredible denim expert, but i have 25 lacoste shirts. how old is it. In the past 10 years, the gators have all been on the left side. Did you get this at an outlet store? because the tag is correct but the gator is on the wrong side. Even if it turns out that it is fake, you should keep it. It's very nice. Also, new lacoste is made in morocco.

also, i might be wrong on this because izod-lacoste used to be together and i believe that izod is made in france and that the logo is on the right side on izod shirts. I dont know the exact year of the izod lacoste split, but if you acquired that knowledge that would be a good indicator as to whether it is real or not

I have some that are definitley authentic that also have the fishing line stitching, I wouldn't call Lacoste played out...it's classic and will always be in style to a certain degree, similar to Ralph Lauren or Fred Perry

I got some closeup pics of a real lacoste polo (bought from a lacoste store), for those interested: http://flickr.com/photos/ayn/tags/lacoste/

I took those to sell it, it was too big and I don't really like the fit at all... I still have a lime green one in small though...
