English Premier League is all you need to watch...Maybe the Spanish Liga now that Real Madrid are spending money like water to snare elite players.

P.S Now I look forward to the Scouser-Utd clash with even more relish!

mouko all you need is a 7:45am premier league match (preferably in February) followed by breakfast of whisky, lunch of tequila and dinner of vomiting to get you into real ny football scene.

haha, i've seen your lot get together - it looked nothing of the sort.

btw lfcny v nyspurs is 8/13.... COYS

i like the guardian for my football news - it is predominantly the prem & lower english leagues, but they also have correspondents for the spanish, german, italian, etc leagues.

their writers are generally quite humorous, and their articles well written.

they also host probably the best football podcast i've heard, always good for a laugh - football weekly.

and soccernet, like mass said. although the guardian is far more entertaining.

OWEN BREAKS WRIST DURING CONTRACT SIGNING

MICHAEL Owen has begun his Manchester United career by breaking his wrist in three places while attempting to sign his new contract.

According to the club, Owen passed the medical and then punched the air in delight, slightly spraining his shoulder.

A club spokesman said: "We hoped he would recover quickly after the medical and could at least take part in the first half of the contact signing, but the fountain pen was just too heavy.

"His agent was able to move his hand to form a legally binding signature but then, when Sir Alex congratulated him, he just fell to bits and had to be shovelled-up and carried out in a couple of wheelbarrows."

Owen, currently recuperating in the Louis Saha Memorial Injury Suite, will meet the rest of his team-mates over the next few weeks as they fall apart during pre-season training.

Former Man United player Stephen Malley, said: "The gaffer feels Michael can supply something different as none of the lads have experience of wearing ankle casts on the continent. And he can also teach some of the younger strikers his agonised thigh-clutching technique."

Charlie Reeves, a United fan from Surrey, said: "I remember that goal he scored for England when he was 12. Marvellous. His cheeky little face made him look like one of the sprites from The Magic Flute.

"And now he is playing for my favourite team unless I start supporting Liverpool or Chelsea"

hahaha i wasn't pleased at first, but after hearing his contract is mostly bonus driven, it's not a bad bit of business. pissing off the scouser fucks is a nice addition.

not pissing off anybody.

owen was never really accepted at anfield.

guess that's what being rich and fucking around with horses on the weekend and planning a cricket career in retirement gets you.

sorry dude but owen was a legend at anfield. local lad with his talent probably won't come from liverpool again. nobody cares if he fucks horses as long as he's hitting the back of the net.

only after his last minute move to real, he wasn't considered one of the greats anymore.

he played for 'pool from 96-04 for fucks sake, he was the captain at some point i believe, and the scouser blogs were shitting their pants when news of the transfer broke and you don't think 'pool supporters were angry when we signed him? you must be crazy.

owen turned his back on the club. rafa just arrived and wanted him to stay but he got more money from real. even his good friend carragher talked shit about him in his book.

i'm not too happy with owen going there but if this is the only attacking reinforcement whiskey nose buys i will be delighted.

Owen's always been a rich Everton lad...

Of course people get upset when a good thing leaves, but what he does now is of no concern to Liverpool fans. He had his time, he was great while he was with us, it sucked to loose him to Real. But this transfer is of no concern. I think everyone is understanding and willing to let Michael have his last chance. When asked about this, Fowler said he'd never go to Man U (but then he has feelings for the club that Owen never had), but that he understands Owens' choice. Really, no one's upset about this, trust me.

I don't know why all the Man U faithful insists on gloating, but it's more of a reflection on their fan culture than ours.

I don't anyone in Man U is gloating since many are scratching their heads why SAF brought him in in the first place. Owen is so popular no one is even keen in buying an Owen Man U shirt.

Owen's first shot was a goal (albeit a simple one) against Malaysia today. Ive seen worse starts. United looked sloppy and seemed to be missing that attacking prowess Ronaldo provided. Hopefully Valencia and Obertan can provide that pace and ability on the outskirts. Nani has it but lacks quality in the final third, especially in terms of crossing.

Lets not be quick to condemn Man U.

Last season, Ronnie was not committed and did not have the impact he had 2 seasons ago. This season, with him gone, Wazza can finally shine instead of playing wide left. Berba can be the lone striker. Owen will always be 3rd in the pecking order. Maybe even 4th after Marcheda.

Fergie brought him in because he was virtually free. They obviously have some cash and Owen is only 29 and isn't as injury plagued as everybody thinks. He can provide great support when needed and hopefully playing for a team like United will rejuvenate his enthusiasm for the game. Plus a developing partnership between Rooney and Owen will only result in good things for the England squad. I'd much rather have Owen then a complaining Tevez who still won't see a starting role at City. I've never heard anybody complain so much about not getting a text message. I know he was a fan favorite, but you can find many strikers that will work hard off the bench. Bad form on the way he ended his two-year spell with his 15 year-old antics.

Think Owen is a good buy ie, free and on a pay when you play scheme, as long as he does not demand a starting line-up. He will be an impact players like Larsson and Soljkaer until he finds another club willing to pay him loads.

As for Tevez, its not like he is throwing a tantrum. SAF painted a picture that they want him when in actual fact, they did not do much to get him to stay according to Tevez. Same as how Gaz Baz shot down Rafa and said Pool did not do enough to get him to stay when Rafa was moaning about how Gaz Baz was not keen in Champions League football like what he said and only wants money.

Anyway, even a filthy rich club like City aint paying a proven commodity top wages and 25 million transfer fee for him to warm the bench like what Chelsea did to SWP. It will probably be Tevez playing off Adebayor. Santa Cruz and Bellamy will play roles in Sparky’s scheme of things since they are his boys but looks like City will have to clear tons of players.

Owen seems to be off to a decent start, netting another 2 today. I think SAF has set a goal for 15 goals for his performance based salary. I think that is a fair target based on SAF rotating schemes.

Tevez is just a baby and didn't feel loved enough by the boss. He doesn't have the same impact as a starter. Some people are just better off the bench. He should have realized this and stayed with Utd and won top honors. Now he will not even see Europe this season and realize he will be working just as hard to get a place at City.

It will be a great season with teams like Fulham, Tottenham and City all pressing forward and teams like Arsenal, Utd and Chelsea who didn't bring in too many new faces. I will thoroughly enjoy this year. Plus fantasy!
