that's what 44 means on these shirts. a 44 is a 44" chest, a 40 is a 40" chest, etc..

how true to size is this, and if i plan to machine wash and dry the shirts should i get a 42 or 44, if im between sizes. hope that makes sense

They don't shrink much.. maybe half a size if you wash and dry it.

The flannel shirts all run true, the NON-flannel shirts run half a size small.

I finally got the chance to stop by Self Edge yesterday to check out the store. The quality on the Flat Head shirts is amazing! I can't wait to get my hands on the black and white houndstooth shirt. I picked up a pair of 3001s (sans arcuate and tab...=\ but it's ok...), I think I'm in love. Thanks for all of the help Kiya.

they measure true to size, the size being the chest measurement of course...
