There are many shops near by Dmop, like busy work shop taipei and UNDERCOVER taipei, but the price is a little bit higher than in Japan... or why not go to 101 building? there are many brands there too. anyway, welcome to Taiwan, I am a Taiwanese!

its my 3rd time here, never got to shop here though.

anything around luxy?

Yes go to MrThurs' shop in Taichung if you're ever there! Denim includes fullcount, sugarcane, warehouse, etc when I was there last year. They also stock some japanese brands and their own lin (which is pretty nice):

If you around Luxy I'd just take the walk down to the area around BWS. While there check out Overkill, Summit, and Good Choice which are in the surrounding area. Might as well hunt down Faith too for al the denim stuff

I find that Taipei lacks independent clothing shops. Probably because of the city layout and dense population as most stores are in malls or nestled at the foot of a high rise.

Anyway, here's my list of places to shop (in no particular order):

For streetwear

1. Ximending Pedestrian Zone: Taipei's Shibuya. MRT Ximen

2. Idee S Department Store: MRT Zhongshan

3. New York New York: next to Taipei 101, MRT Taipei City Hall

4. Mall in Tienmu with the DKNY shop (don't know what it's called). Lots of Japanese and American expats in that area. A bit complicated to get to get there. MRT

5. Pacific City Living Mall: mainly international brands. MRT Sun-Yatsen

6. Asiaworld Dept Store: MRT Nanjing E Rd

For high-end

1. Department Stores: Sogo (MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing), Mitsukoshi (MRT Taipei City Hall), Takashimaya (MRT Taipei City Hall) and a couple of stores in Tienmu

2. Malls: Far Eastern Plaza (MRT Tech Building), Taipei 101 (MRT Taipei City Hall), Breeze (MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing), Pacific City LM

3. and a few along Dunhua south of Zhongshiao

There's also the Miramar shopping complex (biggest in Taiwan I believe) but it's in the boonies. You have to take the MRT + shuttle bus.

For really cheap stuff:

Go to the Shilin night market near MRT Jiantan

No charles you are definitely wrong about there being no independent labels. I was walking around in Ximen and found quite a few but they were all in the small alley ways. If you're ever in ximending, my advice is to explore the alleys between the major streets, movie theaters, and prominent shops. I remember I found Overkill, Scenic, and Riot standard pretty interesting. Overkill stocks japanese brand Deluxe and does their own line; Scenic carries a bunch of other obscure japanese brands and stocks Swagger stuff; Riot Standard stocks some Supreme, a few japanese brands, and their own clothing line called "Provider." Check out the links below cuz the stores may b a bit hard to find. There are definitely more small labels around this area but I probably forgot or something.
