anto- I got your PM before supertalk crashed and then couldn't get a PM back to you. I checked your links and one of the stores you listed had the shoes, one was sold out at that point.

They seem to have them here:

http://www.swear-london.co.kr/bemarket/shop/index.php?pageurl=page_goodsdetail&uid=101

But...... they are 198,000KRW plus shipping if the store requires it, shipping the shoes to Italy from Korea via EMS insured will be about $50 on top of that, add in a little more for me, and you're looking at over $280 US, 220'ish Euros, barring any customs taxes you may have to pay in your country.

JT, Omega, what kind of stuff are you interested in?

A couple things; one, I am laying flat on my back assed out right now with the worst flu I think I've ever had (nice, since it's not only Christmas tomorrow, but also my birthday), and two, I haven't figured out a good system for payments yet. I can accept Paypal payment, but basically that money I never get to see again because it goes to my US bank account, and Paypal won't deposit into anything outside of the US.

any propositions?

That's a singularly bizarre situation about the whole paypal thing there, dismal. Good luck with the flu!

I might be interested in this just because it seems like I've seen a couple of Japanese brands going on Korean webstores for well below the Japanese price. Or not, if XE.com or whatever is far off.

edit: also, if you do plan on setting this up, send me a list of korean webstores you visit / know of / etc... and I'll add it to my webstore list that I'm giving to Minya to post.

The Paypal thing I can probably get around, it's just a headache. Reading bed and coldrice's horror stories about Paypal in supermarket recently have not helped the situation either.

I have a couple caveats about all of this; buying stuff here in Korea, let me just say that it's EXPENSIVE. There are no deals to be had. Japanese labels, if they're cheap, then they're fake or they've fallen off the truck someplace and are really old season stuff anyway. There were a bunch of fake Lad Musician, Number Nine, Undercover, CDG Play, etc, pieces that Ive seen since last year here.

Basically, for anything one would want, it's safe to figure that if you want the real thing, it's gonna cost double what you expect it to, in Korea. There's a lot of import and luxury taxes, middleman costs, store fees that get mixed in that makes everything here really high.

I can understand anton's situation where he's looking for those size 41 Swears and the probably are sold out all over the world, but they're gonna cost $280 for shoes that originally cost what, 40 pounds?

The other thing is that shipping from Korea is high; rates would probably be something like $50 for a pair of shoes or a bulkier item like a jacket, $30 for even something small like a couple t-shirts.

Truth be told, you can probably tell from all of this that I personally don't have the means or desire to do this, since it's fiddly with money for me, and I still have to go to work everyday.

However, I have a girlfriend who can do a 2000dB-type thing from Osaka. She's currently here in Seoul til the 20th of next month, and then will be back home in Osaka. She may or may not want to buy stuff in Korea, I will need to ask before reporting back here; she is down to do anything from Japan though, beginning next month....

Dismal pretty much hit the nail on the head concerning items from Korea - expensive and a pain in the ass.

If I can figure out how we can deal with getting reimbursed from paypal, perhaps I can assist, but I cannot assume a speedy turn around time as I do work full time in a monkey suit.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

DH
