it looks dope, but is it functional?

I dont like samsung phones and I've had bad experience with B&O televisions.. my folks had one, when it was under 10 years old it started making crackling noices and later on other weird stuff. plus their fucking impossible to attach to different devices, program etc.

B&O is like the Mercedes of electronics...the new Audi A8 has an option to put B&O system in over the already amazing Bose system.

Uhh..it's supposed to have the best (clearity both incomming and outgoing) of any phone on the market. The dial pad is actually where you recieve sound from, so it's like 50 times bigger than a normal cell, therefore much clearer/better sound.

It is a little oddly shaped though, and when I was in the B&O store, they didn't know if there was a case for it, and I'm not sure how comfortably it would fit in a pocket.

But if you've seen a demo phone, the way it opens is the coolest thing in the world....there is actually an electric motor that opens the phone for you the seccond it senses you trying to open it. Very impressive.

er, no. I don't know much about cars, but I believe Mercedes cars are well-made, no?

B&O is the Bape of electronics: all hype, all bling, no quality. They're not as outrageously overpriced or falsely marketed as Bose, but they're still absolutely awful for the outrageous price they charge. If you want actual quality audio electronics instead of shiny status pieces that will impress those with tons of money and no taste, stay away from B&O.

I was thinking more of a Jaguar of electronics - an expensive, but a shitty car. I like how a lot of B&O looks, and I have their phones in my house, but for the prices they demand for their electronics there are much better options, and good looking too. BTW, these are the original makes of the aluminum cabinets for speakers who did stuff for B&O - their products sound much better. http://www.piega.ch

while i agree that the quality does in not way justify the prices they charge, the designs they come up with are usually pretty slick. very few companies produce audio equipments that looks as good as B&O. anyway, ppl buying B&O are usually not audiophile and probably wouldn't see the difference.

That's true. All in all I can't say that it's bad - it's just not a good value for your money.

It's kind of fitting, because whilst Geman engineering is probably the best in the world for build quality, for electrical reliability they're some of the worst, particularly in comparison to their Japanese rivals, who completely dominate reliability rankings.

Yeah, B&O are pretty comparable to Bose in that neither offer much in terms of quality (relative to many other companies) but because they sell their shit at such high prices, people generally assume that they're on the high end.

That's so interesting...I think that's true for ALOT of things out there.

good comparison, I agree. my old man got a jaquar x-type sometime when it came out, came with a fucking casette player and wasn't good to drive at all. same with B&O, tv started to break down after 10 years, quite a while ago I used to have a Grundig that I inherited from my folks, it was closer to 20 years old and worked fine.

what goes for the phone, they have very little experience in them, I guess its basically a samsung but I dont like them either. the motorized folding sounds like a really retarded idea that will annoy the crap out of you after a week.
