hey kiya, what do you do with all these bikes? keep em or sell?

I normally build bikes for myself but recently have been building them for others.. i don't really mark the bike up from what i payed so my labor is paid just by the fun of building bikes. I'm on my fourth bike of the month right now..

just cause the wheels busted why is the rest of the bike done?

like frame?

and whats so crazy about riding clipless/cageless

I missed this...

The frame was fucked... LUCKILY everything from the front didnt get any damage... Except the bar tape, but everything else was good...

Riding cageless was ok for me... I didnt have any problems... Just make sure you kno how to angle your ankle wen riding, so if you get in a sketchy situation, your foot doesnt slip off...

But with cages, you do have better control of your bike, which I found out after I tried with cages. I can ride either way, but with cages I just feel that much cooler.

I for the life of me can't seem to calibrate my front break correctly. I'm currently using a Cane Creek cross lever for my front break...

What seems to be the problem? Is one side rubbing the rim? Play with the the two nuts behind the brake caliper until the brake pads are even on each side. If its not the try sanding the brake pads to get the waxy coating off the brake pads, then wipe down the rim with simple green or windex. Before all that, play with your barrel adjusters.

public service announcement:

do not watch rad in an apt full of drunk people. after the movie is over, you will have people trying to do bmx tricks on track bikes, ultimately turning into some hostile game of foot down in the living room.

Went back to the bike shop...both the Peugeot and the Mercier were sold. Luckily I picked up an old (1980's/1990's) Nishiki touring bike for $45 bucks a few days ago. I'll post pics soon. I don't know anything about the bike so I gotta take it to a shop in a few days to get it checked up and everything.

It says "international" across the top and Nishiki across the bottom. Looking closely I saw that it says "Suntour" where the gears are and "Sugino" or something like on the metal bar (crank?) that the pedals are connected to. It says something Champion on the handlebars. I'll post pics up asap.

So anyone ever do the whole Critical Mass ordeal? Apparently there are a bunch of fixed riders who do it in Ann arbor

Ive done it in Chicago. You pretty much meet up somewhere w/ all the riders, and then everyone rides around the city. Its funny as hell watching how some people get so mad over it, and some honk and cheer you on.

Good times had all around, especially w/ a brew or blunt in your hand

oh yea, I picked up the San Jose....its so nice having a bike that is actually semi nice (im used to crappy bikes). Great for a flat city like Chicago

Those delta brakes are the most overcomplicated but beautiful bicycle components I've ever come across. They also do not work particularly well and weigh a comparative tonne.

btw, is there a special tool to get the peddals of some bikes? I was able to get the ones off my old bike off pretty easy, but the ones on the San Jose wont budge

any help?

The imaginatively named pedal spanner, it's just a reinforced 15mm spanner. If -when the bike was assembled- the mechanic neglected to grease the threads on the pedal spindle then getting them off may be a nightmare.

If this is the case, take the crank off the bike and make a triangle out of the spanner and crank arm then stamp on the pedal spindle and it should come undone.
