Does anyone if most japanese brands practice this? In case, no one knows, FukuBukuros are like grab bags usually consisting of an entire outfit from a certain brands at a bargain price. They usually happen around New Years, and sometimes in the summer.I usually get the gothic lolita ones, but I was wondering if its a widespread thing. My cousin is going over there this winter for New Years. I am giving her my shopping list.

Yes. All the winter/fall items for ALL the shops in ALL of Tokyo go on sale on New Years. It's a mad house. 福袋 (FukuBurkuros) are really popular. You basically just state your size and they give you a typically black bag so you can't see what inside with a whole ton of discounted shit. They also range in prices from $20...$1,000+. I remember one online store was doing lucky bags filled with Dior Homme, Kris Van Assche, etc. last spring for like $2,000.

most of the shops do that i think. imo, if you're a big fan of that certain brand, you should take your chances, the items inside the bag are heavily discounted with that price range. chances are you will find something you like inside, and you can still probably sell away those that you don't want from the bag.

too bad F.I.L doesn't practice this :(

like others said, it's usually a hit or miss. i bought a few last year and i don't think i would buy some again if i had the chance. even though the items inside the bag are always worth much more than than what you paid, you're can't choose and they tend to put the stuff that they weren't able to sell. big department store usually put a couple really expensive item (diamond, that kind of stuff) so when they open it's complete madhouse. all girls fighting to buy as many bag as they can, totally crazy. always on the news on january 2nd. i never bough anything from a department store (only from small boutique), but i heard from many ppl that the bags are really different from each other in terms of item value (which means that you can get a really shitty bag, but also a really nice one) while at smaller boutique, they tend to be fairly similar.
