APC denim

If you mean APC denim that is similar to DH, then, it would be the "Tight/Cure" cut or the "Unisex/New Standard" cut, although the latter one is not as tappered at the bottom of the leg and maybe not as tight as Dior Homme and the "Tight/Cure" cut. If you're asking for other brands that might be similar to DH, then I would suggest Helmut Lang.

Deim, thanks for the pics! they're great! I'm afraid I'm not wearing my jeans that hard no more! basically now I just wear them everyday, but I still try to sit, get them to touch on concrete and dirty places as often as possible.

Funny thing, I found a store in SF that sold APCs. But they were out of a bunch of sizes for the Rescues. I asked the salesperson if they've been selling. She said that they've had them for awhile but all of a sudden people have been coming in and snapping them up the past couple of weeks. I wonder if this thread has anything to do with it!icon_smile.gif

i've read the some threads thats why i'm wondering. sorry but i'm new to stuff like these. i do understand that sanforize is to prevent shrinkage, but the conversations above gave me the impression that denim expands. deim23 and others that have bought apc kind of gave me that impression. is it 1)apc's cut is bigger than normal? 2)personal decision to downsize so as to get better contrasts? 3)the denim expands after several wearings?

Serge d Nimes thanks for the info. i have read and learnt quite alot from postings from you, ringring, and many others. i've been shopping and observing at shops, trying to learn more about denim.

thanks for the help on dior homme, i was looking to see if there was a cheaper alternative.

I understand that sanforizing leads to 1-3% of shrinkage in the waist, and 1-2" of shrinkage in lenght. Since the shrinkage in the waist is minimal, no need to take that into account, and since the lenght for APC is normally 36", no problem there either, unless you're very tall.

APC denim, to my knowledge, expands maybe 1 to 3 inches in the waist, depending on how tight they fit at first on you. The sizing of the jeans is confusing to me. It might even be a little random? I've never heard it to be smaller than marked, so people rate it, in the time they first try it, from true-to-size to 3 sizes bigger, depending a bit on the model. Rescues are maybe a little bigger; Tight/Cure and English/Anglais tend more to be true-to-size. Unisex/New Standard is either true-to-size or 2 sizes bigger. Perhaps recently it's been true-to-size.

Personal decision to downsize... well, I guess it may be taken into account that tighter jeans create more pronouced whiskers, but the decision is up to you. There are other methods to get wear marks on loose jeans.

Hey diem,

Those look great. I'm looking to have a friend pick up a pair of Rescues for me next week in NYC. I'm a 31-32 in normal jeans, I'm thinking going 29. Would you have gone down another size if you had the chance? They do seem slightly tight in the crotch area, how do they feel after 2 1/2 weeks.

Thanks!

D

you should give your friend a pair of pants whose waist fit you perfectly tot take with him to the store so he can compare and have him buy you a pair that is ever so slightly smaller. i'd say about an inch.

it might look a little silly walking in with them but i think it'll save you ALOT of fitting grief

my actual waist size is 34 inches (like if you take a tape measure all around with no gaps).

i ordered a 31 and they were snug at first but they have since stretched out perfectly.

if it helps, i wear 31 in seven, paper denim, and diesel also.

I've seen some colored APC jeans in the Standard cut from HK and JP auctions. Are any of these made from selvage denim? I'm actually looking for a white pair of jeans along the same cut.. Any recommendation? Preferrably something I can buy in the US to minimize the hassle.

the unisex/new standards strech quite a bit. When I first got a pair a month ago or so, they were almost painfully tight. I've worn them nearly every day and biked and hiked a lot in them and while noone would mistake them for rescues they're not on the loose side for a slim fit.

are the APC women's jeans or tight jeans selvage? Would it be pointless to buy two pairs of the exact same style jean?

PETEROCK

I've been trying to figure out how to post a picture on this thing but i guess it didn't quite work. Anyway, size 28 (label) ended up fitting my waist (30 true to size) in the regulars.

man, after following this thread from the get go and having debated buying a pair of anglais for like 2 years, then and reading that the english were done for I decided to order a pair.I managed to score the last pair of 36's from the NYC store. ordered yesterday, got them today.

I love them, they're very loose on me, which I like! I rock a 38 usually in levis and rogan, and they fit perfect around the waist. I love plain stiff 5 pocket jeans. they are so few and far between.

why the hell did I wait so long?

I'm going to wear them for as long as I can without washing (6 months maybe), then wash and dry the crap out of them!

I think mowing the lawn in them this fall is callled for as well. I think the grass stains will do them well.

ok just kidding about that.
