Denim Timeline

I'm in need of help.

I need to find a history of denim timeline other than the Levi's one.

I want as much all inclusive information as possible.

Has anyone seen one? Have any great solid fact based papers, sites, or books that a time line can be created from? I know a lot from memory but it needs to be as fact and date accurate as possible.

From Serge de Nimes to today.

Please help.

James Sullivan's book....basically exactly what you're looking for.

David Little...although limited, is interesting. Paul T's "Denim: From Cowboys to Catwalks" is much nicer. although i will have to get my hands on this james sullivan's book...

FYI, Paul T's Book is only really useful for a history of jeans and not necessarily denim as such.

Want to emphasize how useful James Sulliva's book is. His work has led to many of the corollary reading here.

you may also want to find books on Amoskeag Mills. I recently bought one but am waiting for it to arrive. I'll post some info if I find it useful for denim knowledge.

The james sullivan book is good, but Paul T's book is far more fun to read. It has really nice glossy photos, a cool guide in the back, and is an easy read in an afternoon. However, i've read it over and over and still find it interesting. The sullivan book talks more about fashion denim as well, while the end of the Paul T book talks about japanese denim.

Was just browsing the levistrauss.com website again and remembered they have a bunch of useful info for this sort of thing (of course heavily Levi's focused).

It raises the question of whether the word Denim was actually derived from "serge de nimes"
