Wedding Help...

Ok...I am going to Toronto at the end of the month for a wedding. I don't have to wear a suit (and I don't want to because I doubt I will find one in time and I don't want to spend a shit load of money). So...I was thinking of maybe some cords or gabardine trousers or something (definitely cut skinny) and a blazer with a dress shirt and tie. Any suggestion for stuff that is not too expensive and available in really small sizes. I was thinking maybe APC. Oh...and I am pretty clueless about shoes too. Thanks.

what does "i don't have to wear a suit" mean? is no one else wearing a suit? personally i think cords would be much too casual for anything but the most casual outdoor weddings.

unless it were an outdoor wedding, it wouldn't even occur to me not to wear a suit. if you were going to go to apc anyways a suit there would cost just as much as the non-suit things you'd need to get

If I go to cords or trousers route, should I just get everything black with a white dress shirt?

with the black + black I think a plain white shirt would be too much, maybe white with something or some other color?

brown cords would also look dope with a black jacket, I think apc had that in their lookbook and/or website.

Honestly, if you're not in the wedding party, then not wearing a suit isn't a big deal. (Unless it's a hyper-traditional wedding, I guess.) Don't wear jeans or a t-shirt, and try and find a nice casual blazer to wear. I think thinly-waled cords might be appropriate. But you don't need a suit. If you are in the wedding party, of course, then you absolutely need a suit or tuxedo (ideally which matches what everyone else in the party will be wearing).

Again, just need to reiterate that the most important factor here is the couple being married, and their attitudes / wedding style. If it's a traditional religious wedding in a church or what have you, then you're definitely going to want to dress far more conservatively.
