i love jil sander's menswear, but i recently came across something about her selvage denim, on the miilan menswear summary. anyone ever tried it on or heard about quality, because if its DH or h lang good, i should seriously consider copping a pair, purely for selvage and aesthetic. thanks

and to my recollection, it wasn't much to be impressed about, with the quality being close to the HK made evisu's. The cut was not very good, considering reputation jil has for tailoring.

Either my pair from a year ago is that much better than the one you saw or this is a classic example of one man's drink being another's poison...One random day at Jeffrey's Iast year I stumbled on some Jil Sander selvage jeans and was quite taken by their texture. I wasn't looking for jeans that day, I had no intentions of buying more jeans at that time, I wasn't even shopping that day! But this pair really stuck out because the material is thick and almost slubby (not at all like the hardcore Sugarcanes models but much more so than typical designer jeans). The fit was slim but not tapered which I don't like. It had hidden rivets and just a nice overall polish to it that I liked A LOT for some reason. Well you know where this story is going -- I ended up buying them a few days later. I didn't do any research on them, I didn't do an extensive investigation and poll on them here on supertalk. I simply went with my gut desires and bought them. To my pleasant surprise they wear very nicely. Don't get too excited, I wear them very infrequently because I have way too many jeans on deck but the few times that I've worn them, I tested them out and I saw the beginnings of fade very quickly. And they werent even raw and they already started wearing in. I cant wait to fully committ my time to them.

Guest Fade to Black

I saw some jeans from S/S 06, i don't think any of the ones i saw were raw...it was more or less dark, untreated denim, but much softer to the touch...more like a 'designer' jean rather than a traditional, 'authentic' jean like the Japanese repros. One pair was extremely slubby to the touch in contrast to the softness of the fabric which I thought was quite interesting. They seemed like jeans for dressier occasions, I couldn't really see them being worn with sneakers and a tee or a hoodie.

lol, don't worry, I don't excite easily- I've been out many a time with no intention to buy jeans whatsoever, and have gotten hooked on something or another. (*cough- edwin, crate, nudie, rag n bone, 5ep-cough*) So I know the feeling. The photo posted by serge d' was not the pair that I tried on. Those look to be of better quality. To go into more detail, I remember expecting the weight of the fabric to be heavier, and opted to purchase some eternals and SD's from xcoldricex instead. It was money well spent, compared to what I was holding in my hands.
