U-necks and wide V-necks in North America

I'm getting kind of sick of wearing just plain-old plain-old t-shirts and I'd like to try layering with v-necks and u-necks. I know AA sells nice cheap v-necks, but I haven't really seen them in person, so I don't know how wide or deep the v-neck is (good enough for layering, anyone?)

U-necks are completely unavailable in the US or Canada AFAIK. this is what I really want, something wider to show off a shirt underneath. I know ruach has experimented with a womens' AA tshirt which resembles a u-neck, but they only come in one color, and I don't know if i'd fit into womens AA sizes at all.

Ideas? Other t-shirt layering ideas/ways to spruce up a t-shirt outfit would be great.

I got a really stretchy, tight CK undershirt that I sometimes use to layer Tshirts. Costed a bit much tho, 20 or so. I also got some V neck ribbed sweaters from Topman in the UK which were pretty cheap and work great with button ups. They go down to second button (not counting the collar button) on a button up shirt. Just enough to get the collar and some taco meat out.

Cool Tip I picked up from Cargo magazine, AA v necks can actually be changed into U necks. At the bottom of the V on AA vnecks, the fabric is gathered and not sewn, so all you have to do is just cut the threads that hold that gather together and YAY ou have a U neck or Scoop neck.

I'm 90% positive that tip was posted here on superfuture before it was in Cargo magazine.

(by chris, actually, iirc)
