whats the dress code for nyc?

im off to nyc on tuesday for 2 weeks, i went last year but we didnt venture out on the town in the city but this year i would like to. so i was wondering what is a good safe outfit to wear to also impress the ladies and gain entrance into the majority of the bars and clubs.

It is pretty hot this time of year so I would pack some jean shorts for sure.

jean shorts won't even get you into the line in most clubs.

i think there was a thread on this a while back, but if you are going to mainstream clubs (i.e. midtown, chelsea area), it's best not to wear sneakers. for mainstream, some clean dress shoes, regular jeans and a button up shirt will work.

more exclusive clubs are less about code, but about style.

also, it helps to have some nice looking girls with you.
