JAY-Z - SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT

The God is back with Justin Blaze and the Blazettes...as a song i will realize this is probably total fluff once i come down from my Jigga-induced high but whatever i'm lovin this shit right now and can't wait for the album.

-All AZ's new joints...

-Jlove remix of Cormega's verse on that little brother track (new Jlove tape)

-That New York, New York song..only when Pap says "I got Brooklyn in my balls, so you can see bed stuy when you lookin in my drawers!". Jada Kiss needs to find something better to spit with that dope voice he got.

-Select New Raekwon shit (but not when he just talks over the beat)

**exclusive exclusive exclusive**

another single from the new jay z album can be heard here: http://xxlmag.com/online/?p=5354

i like this track way more than "show me what you got." just blaze's flip of "super freak" is so simple yet very dope. sounds a bit like ill mind, though.

with the upcoming release of jay's album, i'm starting to question jay's effectiveness as the ceo of def jam. the roots new release and method man's release got zero publicity and nas' album is set to be released around the same time that jay is releasing his lp. jay is def one of my fave people in hip hop but it seems like he's just pushing his own album more so than any of the other def jam releases. any thoughts?

for christs sake the cold vein is a fantastic album,

The Cold Vein is my favorite. I can listen to Pigeon on loop for a week straight and not get tired of it.

The new Jay tracks are fire, and I cant wait for Nas and Jay to drop within weeks of one another. I just picked up the new K-OS and its pretty boring, it sounds almost exactly the same as Joyfull Rebellion.

i don't think Jay's gonna fuck up his own promotion by sticking to the original proposed date for Nas...i have a feeling Nas gonna get pushed back to sometime early 2007.

Then again maybe not, since Jeezy's dropping in December maybe Nas gonna fit somewhere in there. If so that's gonna be a blockbuster season on the billboard charts.

"Kingdom Come" has a nice beat, i've liked that Just beat ever since he posted it on his myspace, but as far as performance wise Jay's never been more on cruise control...haha

I usually give this list to people looking for good hip hop...

some good (and more than obvious) picks, but this was basically about good new stuff so listing 200 old albums doesn't make that much sense.

I agree with Fade on the new Jay tracks, I love 'em but I have to admit that he doesn't sound like he's really working it. nevertheless Show me what you got is a great radio/single track and I hope the album has more great stuff.

I guess you didnt read the title of the thread?

hahah, my bad. I just read "good hip hop" and got all excited. Forgive me, I go to a school where 50 cent is considered "good hip hop."

As for the newer stuff JMT's stuff is ok. I still think their first album was the best.

Black Moon's "Alter the Chemistry" and Hall Of Justus' "Soldiers of Fortune" are also pretty dope.

yeah i feel you on the 50 cent shit. i dont know if i said it in this thread but i told a kid i listened to hip hop and he was like "yeah right name some rappers" and the first thing i said was slug. so he said "seriously though try naming someone not from england or whatever so someone might know who he is"

I think it's pretty safe to say at this rate, The Game is gonna drop a far superior album to Jay-Z...

Im kinda thinking the same. These aren't my links but I figured you guys would enjoy them.....as much as i hate the game i still enjoy most of his album material.

both good albums, I think I liked Bonet a bit more

agreed. i heard Bonet before Ricci, so i thought it a little weak by comparison. I probalby would have liked it more if I heard it first.

also feelin the song w/ Will I Am that just got leaked yesterday - "Compton"...who would've known that Will I Am would've come to be one of the best producers in hip hop. The guy's been tearin up the scene lately.

The Game has the best ear for beats in hip hop right now. Jay got that myspace leftover track from Just Blaze....while JT ended up with Justin's version of "We Major", some epic shit right there.

Yeah Will.I.Am is nice. I don't know if you heard the track he laced for Nas called "Hip Hop is Dead" on the new album but it's serious. Ill post it up in a bit. I agree that he has a good ear for beats right along side Lil' Wayne. On another note, BTNH have by far the worst ear for beats. I guess being under the Swizz umbrella doesn't help much but still, they deserve better. This conversation is turning a little mainstream.

OH SHIT

just listening to the new AZ, sounds dope as hell. just playing Sit Em Back ft. MOP, I seriously have trouble typing cause I cant stay still

also, Jay-Z - Lost Ones: http://www.sendspace.com/file/cucysa

my favorite new track so far, I love the beat, jay sounds way more focused. second verse is dope, and so is the last one:

my nephew died in the car I bought

wanted to believe it was partly my fault

close my eyes and squeeze tryin to block that thought

place any burden on me but please not that lord

no time to go back and go forth

can't run from the pain go car sick

some things cant be explained, what caused it

such a beautiful soul so pure

gonna see you again I'm sure of it

to the time - middleman was nausious

your girlfriends pregnant but lost it

almsot lost my faith that was guardin

so like heaven your life restarted

cant wait til your childs life to be a part of it

so now I'm child-like waiting for a gift

to return when I lost you - I lost it

yeah i'm bumpin it now...on track 2. i dunno...the Dr. Dre voice impersonating is a bit much for me. If he keeps this up then the album is gonna end up too gimmicky to be hailed as a classic despite the aforementioned fire tracks that were leaked this past weekend.

I'm sure production is gonna be top notch throughout...but wtf at these tracks so far being imitations of Dre beats?! Damn this dude is way too deep in his obsession w/ doc...
