levis 501 shrink to fit???

i got a pair of levis shrink to fit 501s. Suposedly they shrink 1 inch in the waste and 3 inches in length when washed. So sized up accordingly. My delema is if i don't wash them before wearing they will be a bit to big and perhaps won't turn out the way i'd like. But if i wash them before hand then they won't be as rigid and in turn still not come out howi'd like. what should i do?

Soak em, then starch em, then wear the hell out of em.

heh, before you soak them dude, you may want to return them and get the true size in the waist, or tighter, and only upsize 2" in the inseam. STFs stretch out a lot, and there is no way they shrink 3" in the inseam.

i agree about the inseam but i go up one size for the waist. same strategy for the preshrunk 501's.

they do shrink 3" in the inseam ... I had 36's - they were 33.5 after two semi-cold( not ice water ) soaks ..

They shrunk 1/2 " more after one trip to the dryer

when letting them dry would it be better to wear them or hang dry em in the sun?

If you plan on wearing them faithfully to get some character and fade lines - wear them until they dry
